10 dB louder. Magically. According to Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." AirCurve Play is based on some very advanced technology, indeed; and when you hear it, you will agree it is magical. AirCurve Play makes the speaker of your iPhone 10 decibels louder... no, really. And it works without batteries or cables or power adapters or incantations. Just slip your iPhone into AirCurve's rubber dock gasket, and your iPhone 4 becomes the perfectly portable audio/video conference phone, and self-contained music player and video viewer. Without revealing the secret of the magic, we can tell you that AirCurve is a cleverly designed acoustic amplifier that collects the sound from the built-in speaker of your iPhone, amplifies it in a built-in coiled waveguide, and projects it out into the room. AirCurve's transparent polycarbonate body lets you appreciate the waveguide's graceful curves, inside, that do all the work. That's some great-sounding mojo.

But to be fair, I wasn't looking for amazing sound quality, I have a stereo for that. Having said that, the sound is surprisingly good, at a shade under £9 my expectations weren't high but I am very impressed. It does exactly what I wanted it to do.
If you are looking for a simple, inexpensive solution to amplifying the sound of your iphone 4, this is perfect. It's also a great speaker, if you want something to take on holiday without lugging a much larger and heavier speaker around, this would be perfect for that as well
Altogether, depending on your needs, an impressive product for little money.
Soundwise, it is a bit tinny but I work in a hypermarket on the electrical dept & some of the electric docks costing 29.99 are of the same quality. ( Thats listening to music)
As far as voicecalls on speakerphone are concerned the sound quality is excellent & clear. Its extremely compact to.
You have to remember this is using gramophone type technology & updating it so. All in all, if you want Stereo avoid. But as a travel dock/alarmclock/speakerphone/satnav software I recommend.
It comes with a white rubber phone sized inlay but I took that out; my phone has a hard shell case but slotted in nicely once i had removed the rubber inlay case from the amp device.
With the phone EQ set on bass boost it provides an acceptable volume and bassy sound; distinctly more than the phone itself is capable of so all in all it does work. Of course it doesnt turn it into anything 'room filling' but if you're after a cheap and cheerful gadget to add volumne and sound then this is it. its a neat sturdy little block!!
free delivery was very quick too; only took a couple of days.
Level of amplification seems more than the AirCurve for iPhone 3/3Gs.
With the 3Gs AirCurve, the iPhone cable/connector was permanently fixed to the unit, and the phone was mounted directly on to it. Easy.
Not so easy with the 4/4s AirCurve because the cable is not fixed. So a bit more faff to connect the phone to the cable. On the plus side, it affords flexibility in arrangement (portrait/landscape).
I read some other reviews on this product and thought, oh yes, another gimmick that won't work. I was pleasantly surprised when I laid my iPhone 4 into the unit and pressed play. It actually does increase the volume by around 10-15 decibels.
It also has its own multi-position stand, so can be laid flat or stood up, whichever suits your need.
The only downside of the unit is it only has one speaker outlet, so sounds a bit mono, but overall, a very good buy.
I like how you can use it as a stand too.
I give it 4 out of 5 every day.

Way cheaper than expensive speakers and really does the job when you're looking to boost the volume inside a room. Not great for outside but what do you expect.Published 15 months ago by Anna Patterson
Very happy and will highly recommended to friends and family.
This device does little for the sound of your phone but it is a rather attractive docking station and should be seen as such to avoid disappointment.Published 20 months ago by Mark Terry
