Product Description

Product Description

10 dB louder. Magically. According to Clarke's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." AirCurve Play is based on some very advanced technology, indeed; and when you hear it, you will agree it is magical. AirCurve Play makes the speaker of your iPhone 10 decibels louder... no, really. And it works without batteries or cables or power adapters or incantations. Just slip your iPhone into AirCurve's rubber dock gasket, and your iPhone 4 becomes the perfectly portable audio/video conference phone, and self-contained music player and video viewer. Without revealing the secret of the magic, we can tell you that AirCurve is a cleverly designed acoustic amplifier that collects the sound from the built-in speaker of your iPhone, amplifies it in a built-in coiled waveguide, and projects it out into the room. AirCurve's transparent polycarbonate body lets you appreciate the waveguide's graceful curves, inside, that do all the work. That's some great-sounding mojo.

This really is a great little product! I was looking for a simple speaker system for my iphone just to listen to internet radio whilst pottering around the house. After trailing through Amazon at other speaker systems, they all seemed to be starting at around £30+ and the reviews weren't that brilliant even for the high end speakers. The other factor I took into consideration was that I didn't want a speaker solution that would need plugging in and take a static position.
But to be fair, I wasn't looking for amazing sound quality, I have a stereo for that. Having said that, the sound is surprisingly good, at a shade under £9 my expectations weren't high but I am very impressed. It does exactly what I wanted it to do.

If you are looking for a simple, inexpensive solution to amplifying the sound of your iphone 4, this is perfect. It's also a great speaker, if you want something to take on holiday without lugging a much larger and heavier speaker around, this would be perfect for that as well

Altogether, depending on your needs, an impressive product for little money.

Looks great with a alarm clock app on your phone!:)
Soundwise, it is a bit tinny but I work in a hypermarket on the electrical dept & some of the electric docks costing 29.99 are of the same quality. ( Thats listening to music)

As far as voicecalls on speakerphone are concerned the sound quality is excellent & clear. Its extremely compact to.
You have to remember this is using gramophone type technology & updating it so. All in all, if you want Stereo avoid. But as a travel dock/alarmclock/speakerphone/satnav software I recommend.

What a great find. I have a device with batteries to amplify my iphone (Altec) which is good but heavy and bulky. This is light and has variable angle making viewing easy. Ready to move with you and no batteries to consider. Works in landscape or portrait mode.
Highly recommended.

I bought this just to amplify music from my iphone4 while Im bathing the kids or in the shower as I got sick of extending a powered speaker into the bathroom or just using the tinny speaker on the phone. And it does a stirling job. it should be noted that this item only suits iphone4/4s.
It comes with a white rubber phone sized inlay but I took that out; my phone has a hard shell case but slotted in nicely once i had removed the rubber inlay case from the amp device.
With the phone EQ set on bass boost it provides an acceptable volume and bassy sound; distinctly more than the phone itself is capable of so all in all it does work. Of course it doesnt turn it into anything 'room filling' but if you're after a cheap and cheerful gadget to add volumne and sound then this is it. its a neat sturdy little block!!
free delivery was very quick too; only took a couple of days.

Nice product to passively amplify the output from the iPhone.
Level of amplification seems more than the AirCurve for iPhone 3/3Gs.

With the 3Gs AirCurve, the iPhone cable/connector was permanently fixed to the unit, and the phone was mounted directly on to it. Easy.
Not so easy with the 4/4s AirCurve because the cable is not fixed. So a bit more faff to connect the phone to the cable. On the plus side, it affords flexibility in arrangement (portrait/landscape).

Griffin AirCurve Play Acoustic Amplifier for iPhone 4/4S

I read some other reviews on this product and thought, oh yes, another gimmick that won't work. I was pleasantly surprised when I laid my iPhone 4 into the unit and pressed play. It actually does increase the volume by around 10-15 decibels.
It also has its own multi-position stand, so can be laid flat or stood up, whichever suits your need.
The only downside of the unit is it only has one speaker outlet, so sounds a bit mono, but overall, a very good buy.

Bought this as a Father's Day gift for my husband from My son & was dubious that it would work as it requires no batteries for it to work. When it arrived we tried it out and was amazed how it amplifies the sound. My husbands thrilled with it too - the only drawback is he uses it a lot and his singing is driving me nuts!!!!

I like this thing quit a bit. It's quite clever, and it really do amplifies some frequencies, but indeed only some. The design isn't that well thought out, as the sound is harsh. Still, if you find your iPhone to be too quiet for talks this does quite a good job of amplifying voices. The price is very good either way, and nobody is expecting miracles, but I still think it could have sounded better with some usage of damping, or maybe a different material, and different design. It would have costed more, but I would be willing to pay more for a better product.
I like how you can use it as a stand too.
I give it 4 out of 5 every day.
