Format: Hardcover
I found unusual this book, it's different from the other ones 'cause it approaches the argument by reviewing various stories of Grey parrot owners from the early 1900.
It's very interesting for everyone wants to start breeding his parrots, because everyone can read true stories of beginners breeders from 1900 through the last century.
The book is very complete: it has a section for feeding, breeding, grey parrot behaviour and his health.
In every section is included some true stories about grey parrot.
There are some color pictures too.
excellent.

HASH(0x92023804) out of 5 stars A lot of bad information. 17 April 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book contains some of the worst information I have ever had the displeasure of reading concerning the care of African Grey Parrots. The information is extreemly outdated and belongs in of the dark ages of aviculture.

HASH(0x91fc4d80) out of 5 stars OUTDATED DIETARY INFO 13 April 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
THIS BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1987 BY A EUROPEAN GENTLEMAN, WHOSE DIETARY AND SOCIAL HISTORY OF THE GREY MAY NOT BE PARTICULARLY HELPFUL TO TODAY'S AMERICAN AUDIENCE.
HASH(0x91fc2750) out of 5 stars A big favorite for me. 4 Feb. 2016

Let me explain. The book is old. The dietary information differs from today's standards. If you need a good book because you are thinking of acquiring one of these exceptional creatures this is probably the wrong book for you. If you think you might be the sort of person who is fascinated by history and enjoys anecdotes about the parrot trade from another, distant era, this is definitely the book for you. I was enthralled. If you are a parrot breeder, as I once was, you are going to be amazed at how things were done in the bird biz around the turn of the century - the previous century. The prices, the shipping practices, the diets, the early breeding successes, how the sexes were differentiated before DNA sexing, anecdotes about breeders and pets. It is well written and translated and belongs in the library of any Grey parrot fans who collect books about these curious characters. There are some sections you might want to skip, but even so, it's a remarkable snapshot of a bygone era for intense and educable parrot fans.

Tells you everything you need to know about these birds. Wolfgang spent a lot of time on this book, and it will give you a good idea of what to expect should you buy an African Gray parrot.
