It annoys me to see people rating it 1 star, because they think it should have came with a charger and battery or because the box was damaged with missing items (they haven't even used it, so how can they rate it properly??) .
Ok rant over, back to the review.
I bought this for the same reasons as most, our garden is too big for an electric (cable model), the petrol ones are too noisy and messy and the Cordless trimmer gives you the freedom with less noise and no fumes.
We have approx 80 meters of lawson cypress hedge around our Garden and i managed to do the whole lot in one weekend with this trimmer (both sides of the hedge plus the top as well).
It's truly an amazing piece of kit, I purchased the 40v 2ah battery with it, the charge time is 1 hour and for me it lasted just over an hour (of almost continuous use).
You can purchase a bigger battery (40V 4Ah Battery) which takes 2 hours to charge and will obviously last much longer.
It feels well balanced, but it can get a bit sore on the arms if you have it fully extended (maybe a shoulder strap would help).
It's a very powerful trimmer and it never seemed to struggle with anything i threw at it.
The best part about the greenworks tools range, is that you can purchase additional (bare) tools for a reduced price, because they come without the battery and charger (if you own one tool then you should already have them right?), you can then buy a lawnmower, pole pruner, chainsaw, blower vac, strimmer and they all use the same battery and charger.
I cant rate this highly enough, i would definitely recommend this tool to anyone, even once you add the price of the battery and charger it's still a serious piece of kit for the money.
I got this because it is long reach ...I have a couple of really high conifers.
I already have a corded hedge trimmer (and a long extension cable) but last time I had a couple of things plugged in I was tripping over wires or twisting them together - so to avoid the problem I thought I'd get cordless to do the higher bits.
But this is just as powerful as the corded one and can cut bigger diameter branches ...I'm so impressed with this unless I am planning on doing a whole hedge (when the weight might be an issue) I don't bother getting the corded one out...
I guess to be super critical it is a little heavy and unwieldy and perhaps doesn't have as great a reach as I was expecting ...but still I love it...
And as to coming without a battery...the batteries tend to be the most expensive bit of tools like these - so the fact you can buy one battery and the 'naked' tools is a plus.
I have a cordless hedge trimmer and a chainsaw for around £200 instead of £300...I wanted a cordless chainsaw, similar powered from another manufacturer would have cost me more than £300 alone...
to do what I wanted -(Which was to Test Out the Goods)........I am a Left-Lower Leg Amputee ,so I needed to find something that would
do what I needed it to do...and - That's what I've got......Its REACH-- HEIGHT, Cutting Blade Unit, all work so well in Syncro'.
The Cutting HEAD - easily adjusts to change the Cutting Angle. .and - with regard to Safety, It just could not be Better: The Brilliant
Battery Unit sits at the very Base-(Bottom of the Unit)..and gives it a great ergonomic feeling....The 40v Lithium Battery is very Strong/
Powerful....If needing to make a sudden "STOP"--moving the HAND_Instantly Cuts the Unit's Power Off.
I cut through Long Standing Holly Tree Branches-up to about 15/16mm thick-effortlessly....I am relaxed, and I feel completely Safe with it.
Easy Quick Charge-with TEST LIGHTS On the end of the Battery- To identify remaining Charge. ( Garden Product of the YEAR) ???
