After browsing the massive choice of gardening books available these days I could only find a handful of books on greenhouse husbandry. I chose this book and feel I made the right decision.
After reading the book you feel that it would be obscene just to use your greenhouse to start bedding plants off and grow tomotoes. The possibilities are endless, and all the advice is there in clear, precise print.
The book begins with explaining the various types of greenhouses available, including pros and cons for each, and covers subjects such as heating, cleaning, maintenance and pest control.
There is an excellent year planner at the back that covers all aspects of greenhouse maintenance and care for all kinds of flowers and vegetables.
The book is non-patronising and ideal for both absolute beginners and experts alike, whether you have a 20ft cedar wood and glass greenhouse or a 2ft cold frame, it's all there for you. Need I say more.

I have always regarded Dr. Hessayon’s books as the most practically useful in offering gardening help and information. For me this is one of the later additions to the series, though published in its revised form in 1994. The one disadvantage for younger readers is that measurement and temperatures etc. are still on the imperial scale rather than the now more convenient metric. This, though, in the light of what the pages contain, is a small obstacle.

The book looks at virtually all forms of greenhouses and conservatories, even offering advice on how to construct your own, though not recommended. The book’s real value though, is the detailed information set out in a clear logical fashion, about the huge range of plants, both decorative and edible that a greenhouse/conservatory allows us to grow. To this is added most useful sections on possible problems and how to overcome them, as well as specific and clear advice on tasks to be tackled each month. In all, this is a great investment. It will repay its cost many times. Strongly recommended.

Different version of the same book however the person I bought it for was actually glad it was the older book so all good but it would have perhaps been helpful to show it was the older version. The book was in excellent condition. Had a few tea stains on front but wiped off no problems but excellent condition really and the person this book was for is very happy with the book. So thanks!! Definitely would like to know if the seller has any of the other expert books for sale!??

Quite old fashioned in layout and text. Often not very informative for me, a first time greenhouse owner. Much of the book was not relevant as it deals with what kind of greenhouse to buy and how to build it - I'd already done that. Then it stated that 'watering' was THE most crucial thing to get right and offered the following advice: too much water - leaves curled yellow and wilted, too little water: leaves curled yellow and wilted. That boosted my confidence! Too many pages of lists of plants, just general gardening know how and a direct lift from his other books. Doubt I'll ever look at this book again.

I bought this book for my mum who is about to purchase a greenhouse and she said its excellent. I bought it because she has many other books from this collection and as always it has lived up to expectations. The Expert series are great value for money. I would highly recommend!
