Extremely disappointed
1 out of 5 stars
Extremely disappointed
Some recipes not legible due to over print of pages. The overprint is for another cookbook (which I later realized) containing recipes for bacon and lamb. This isn’t great for a veggie!! Extremely disappointed as was recommended this book by a friend. Wondering if this is a one off or if a batch of books produced had the same issues and other customers have received the same??

Elly has a winning strategy, first she creates the most delicious, fail-safe recipes and then combines this talent with an intuition about how I want to eat right now. This book reflects my reality, grouping recipes for weekdays - with one pan and 20 minute options - and weekends - with more leisurely seasonal suppers plus ideas to help me be more organised and get a jump start on the forthcoming week. There are also new ideas for batching (hooray!) a strategy that featured in her last book Let’s Eat. I’ve had my copy of Green less than a week and have made six of the dishes - all delicious! Elly’s style is always adventurous, never pretentious and embraces fresh cuisines and ingredients that just make you want to dive in.

This book is fantastic, a diverse collection of recipes helpfully split into weekday (speedy) and weekend (leisurely). It also includes one tray meals and a freezer food section.

The recipes themselves look delicious (the few I have tried so far have been so simple to make and very tasty).

The ingredients are mostly very attainable from your average supermarket. The recipes are a great level, not too complicated that you would rarely use them but enticing, different and inspiring and would be easily incorporated into your weekly menu.

Overall it’s the perfect book to spruce up your culinary repertoire, especially if you find yourself in a bit of a vegetarian rut so to speak and wanting to add that extra dimension and depth of flavour to your meals.

Lots of recipes, lovely pictures and good instructions. I like that they separate out quicker recipes for weekday meals, but I would say that their 20min is my 60! Would still really recommend.

There are so many great aspects of this book. Firstly, the weekday and weekend recipes giving a distinction to when you have more time for cooking. Second, I love the section of the book that gives you a base meal and then different ways to serve it, so you're not just having the exact same thing for leftovers the next day. Third, as someone who is trying to add more vegan recipes into an already vegetarian diet, there are lots of options. Everything I have cooked from this book so far has been easy and delicious! The book itself is really nicely laid out with beautiful pictures, I only wish there were more!

This book ticks so many boxes: inspiring veggie & vegan recipes, make-ahead and one-pot meals, seasonal and low-waste ideas, lots of things to make and store, ways to make weekday cooking easier, and meal plans for weekdays and weekends. I loved the way that her last book, Let’s Eat, gave base recipes and then a range of variations to serve things - and this book does the same. So not every variation has its own photo, but most things do, and they are beautiful pictures as well. Well done Elly on a book that is going to become as well-thumbed as the last!

This is Elly’s best book yet. I’m actually blown away by how much content there is - the book is underpriced for the number of recipes in here if you ask me. Which you didn’t.
As usual, she gives really great ideas for how to transform the same base recipe into different meals easily.
She uses ingredients that are cheap and easy to get hold of, or most likely you already have.
They are generally simple to make but deliver big on flavour. I feel guilty when people compliment my food like it was super hard to make - nope guys, it was just Elly.
She loves a lentil and bean and if you’ve got all three of her books you might recognise some of the recipes. Please don’t ignore them- they have a new twist and are worth trying.
The book, like her instagram, is full of the best tips for life. Buy local. Batch cook. Pickle everything. BE MORE ELLY.

A fabulous collection of wonderful and different recipes, they just happen to be veggie and vegan. When I get a new cookbook I'll sit with some post it notes and mark the pages of the recipes that catch me and I'll cook in the next couple of weeks, I started going through this and soon realised I was marking every page. Everything I've cooked so far has been delicious and easy, Elly gives options to use store bought elements or to make your own (mixed grains for instance) so you can make it as easy or hard as you want.

This is an attractive, bright,, and lovely book filled with delicious sounding, simple recipes using familiar and many less than familiar, ingredients. I like Elly Pear's informal, chatty way of writing, which is encouraging and accessible. I am excited to begin exploring some of her ideas.

I tried to post a review but amazon wouldn’t let me because it seemed to be “feedback on the seller,” which is amazon. The book does not appear to be new- the spine is used and bent, so we will be returning. The book itself is great, getting another one- just wanted to flag that the price $40 is a lot for a book that is not new.
