I have finally finished reading this graphic novel and I given it 5 stars because the story was entertaining all the way through the book. It collects issues from the 4 different titles currently been published and develops further the on-going story arc.

It's worth a look if you enjoy reading Green Lantern stories.

I would never have found this in the shops and he was thrilled. Something I know he'll read again and again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Geoff Johns' Last Gasp 22 Feb. 2016
By Hans Sachs - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
It's not often you get a complete story arc in one collection (that's not an omnibus), but this comes as close as any in the GL canon. And it's a fine story, one of the last of the modern Green Lantern that stayed interesting and involving throughout. The art is at times stunningly terrific, and the story is often quite good, the evil motives of the Guardians are pretty evil and I can see where this run probably is at least partly due to the popularity of the Blackest Night series. Darkness, darkness, red lantern rage, plenty of great GLC stars. I give it a four star review, because this isn't the Sinestro Corps War or Blackest Night (or even the Tomasi or Van Jensen run of Green Lantern Corps), but at the same time very good, and if you're a fan, don't miss it. Features the last gasp of inspiration from Geoff Johns on this title, before succumbing to obvious, inevitable burn out and relinquishing his writing duties (unfortunately to a far inferior writer).

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW 6 Feb. 2014
By Manny R - Published on Amazon.com

Geoff Johns, you've done it again. I have been reading the green lantern series for a while, and this story arc is awesome. The plot flows smoothly and events occur that are unseen and unpredictable. Can't wait for wrath of the first lantern! This is a must buy for any green lantern fan. If you arent very familiar with green lantern, then rent some books from your local library that lead up to this story arc ( there are lists online for the correct order)

3.0 out of 5 stars okay, tie ins more involved than main story 30 April 2014
By Hunter Baer - Published on Amazon.com

geoff johns is a fantastic writer. when he makes up a new story. the rise of the third army is a story about the guardians of the universe going mad and making a new army that can subsume their victims. if u are a hardcore GL fan, third army equals black lanterns. and unfortunately, the main series only deal with the third army once while the others deal with the third army straight up.also this story seems rushed, like geoff was trying to get over with green lantern, introduce simon baz, and bring in the next event. not a must own
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent; my favorite Green Lantern run 11 Jun. 2014

Geoff Johns did an excellent job of making the Green Lantern universe come to life. The story starts with the Guardians deciding that the Lantern system is simply inefficient and they decide to start over. In order to do so, they need to get rid of all Lanterns and they have the perfect plan to accomplish that. I will stop right there to avoid any spoilers.

The artwork is amazing. The story is great, giving the reader an opportunity to get to know the other Lanterns and explore the Green Lantern universe more. All in all, a great read from beginning to end.
