At 45w this is a low energy helix spiral CFL (compact fluorescent) lamp that produces a lot of light. Think small-sun amounts of light. OK so maybe that's exaggerating a little, but this lamp is the brightest low energy lamp we have ever seen. It blows everything else out of the water. With the consumption of 45 watts of power this lamp produces 3000 lumens, which is roughly the same as a 225w incandescent light. This light has a BC (Bayonet cap, B22) lamp base. This crisp white light is a good choice for any area where work is done e.g. Kitchens, Bathrooms, Offices, Studios. Also suitable to help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). These high output Green Lamp bulbs (45w - 105w) can sometimes emit a slight buzzing noise when they are in use. If you are using them as hi-bay replacement bulbs or will be some distance away from them when they're in use, then you are unlikely to notice anything but these bulbs might not be ideal for use in an otherwise silent room. The manufacturer have said that the buzzing noise does not in any way effect the lifespan or light output of the bulbs and is normal, but we at My Green Lighting wish to make you aware of the issue before you purchase as we cannot replace any bulbs which exhibit this behaviour.

Do be aware that the bulb is absolutely enormous though. If you look carefully at the photo and keep reminding yourself that the bayonet connector is a full size one then you might get some idea but even that doesn't prepare you for the shock when you see it.
Edit: Also it makes a quite pronounced humming noise when it is switched on.
I have also put 4 of these in my garage (10x35ft) and they now light the place up much better than the 3 old 6FT strip lighting and the 3 occasionally plugged-in 'hand-held' 60watt bulbs that were being used. I could have got away with only 3 of the new bulbs, but after having the wiring put in for the extra bulb, I didn't see the point in NOT using the 4th bulb.
Although it is too early to comment on their longevity in actual use, I highly recommend these bulbs if you need a 'white' light. I now have my eye on the bigger versions - 65watts and 105watts.
It arrives beautifully packed in moulded polystyrene in a box and in a bubble wrap package.
It is a very white, very bright bulb. Seems instant or perhaps I simply cannot tell the difference between super bright and incredibly bright. In a small or medium size room it really is like daylight. I am left wondering how bright the 65 or 85 watt versions must be. This is enough for my rooms.
