The organization and writing in this book is clear and sublime. Through the various facets of the imagery on the vases and what else is known about ancient Greek culture, the author suggests the complexity of the ancient Greek mind and worldview. The vases are a mirror of Greek thinking and assumptions and, what is so intellectually generous about this book, is that it forms a mirror on our own ways of thinking about our Lives and our world.

This is a wonderful book, very nicely illustrated with large, full colour photographs (and lots of them). The prose is highly readable and fluid, too. The price tag is a bit hefty, but worth it if you have more than a passing interest in the subject.
