As a purchase this was a bit of a gamble. I bought it on the strength of a chance hearing of `Summer Wine' on the radio. I was familiar with some of Nancy's hit records but this duet with Lee Hazelwood made me sit up and take notice. It was a gamble that paid off. Forget Elton and Kiki, these must be some of the best duets ever recorded.

The conventional wisdom is that Nancy couldn't sing and only got a chance because of her Father. That may be partly true but is a little unfair because Nancy has quite an expressive voice and provided it isn't pushed too hard like it is on `Fridays Child' then it's well worth listening to.

All the familiar hits are here so if you already like them you'll like the rest of the album. Although Nancy partners her father Frank on `Something' and Dean Martin on `Things' it's the duets with Lee Hazelwood that sparkle and it's obvious that they worked well together.

Summer Wine was familiar to me and as the second track it acts as a foretaste of things to come. Lee plays the role of a lonely hombre drifting into town looking for love and with Nancy suggesting he `take off those silver spurs and help me pass the time' You can use your own imagination from there!

It's the later part of the compilation that contained the surprises for me. `Some Velvet Morning' is the stand-out track and it's worth buying this compilation just for this. This is as far away from `Don't go breaking my heart as you could get being a carefully constructed and crafted song showing Lee Hazelwoods' writing and production skills at their best. It open with silky strings but with a key change the mood soon changes.

I have been looking to buy Nancy and Lee album on CD but could only find it to download. I then found This CD and decided to give it a try. It arrived very quickly sealed and well packaged. I have played it and found it to be just as good as Nancy and Lee if not better because you get all the tracks from N and L also her hits with her dad and Dean Martin. I am very pleased with this CD and would say buy this CD if you are looking for the best of Nancy.

Nancy made many excellent records, as this compilation shows. All the essential tracks are here, including These boots are made for walking *an international number one hit), How does that grab you darling, Highway song and Sugar town. Among Nancy's other solo tracks is the James Bond song, You only live twice.
Nancy also had several big hits via duets with Lee Hazelwood. Did you ever was a British hit, while Summer wine, Jackson and Some velvet morning were American hits. Ladybird was a hit in both countries. Nancy's most famous duet is the one she did with her father, Something stupid.
This is a great introduction to her music, but does not display the full range of her talent - for example, she did a superb country album (Country my way) which is not represented on this collection.

Greatest Hits
I found this to be a very entertaining CD and, unusually for me, I enjoyed every track except the last one which would fail half way through. It appeared that there was a flaw on the playing surface. I returned it and Amazon were fantastic in supplying a new one by return. Sadly, the replacement bore the same fault and I had to accept a refund as it seemed there must have been a batch problem. If you like Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood and can get a perfect pressing, this a great buy. I will leave a repeat purchase for a little time in the hope that I can eventually obtain a perfect copy.

Always loved Nancy's voice which is shown to excellent effect on this cd. All of my favourites are here + many more. She is sultry and atmospheric and quirky and funny and she interprets songs in a very individual way whether solo or in her great duets or in the 2 film related songs here ("You Only live Twice" and "Tony Rome" - the latter starred her dad as an American P.I.) This cd is the place to start if you are just discovering Nancy for the first time.

Have you ever heard a magical song on the radio and were determined to get your hands on it? There is a song on this (Duet) called, ''Some velvet morning". I bought this album hoping that this track was on it. I'd never heard of Lee Hazelwood before and was pleasantly surprized to hear Nancy Sinatra and him singing together on what are excellent compositions. Best of all I've now got that wonderful track mentioned above. Great recording
