From the Author
It is fascinating that the enormous global publicity engendered by this book is not from the role of Welsh women in literally saving Chritianity from extinction, nor of preventing millions of deaths by brucellosis, but from the fact that Carol Jones left Maesteg aged 10 to emigrate with her parents to Australia. There she met an Oz called Minogue, and their daughter became Britain's biggest-selling female singer. Kylie and her sister Dannii visit Wales and acknoledge their Welsh roots, but I have been vilified by the Austalian press for including her. Sorry, but real Australians have a darker hue and curlier hair than Kylie. The other point of abuse has come from the Glenys Kinnock fan club. How dare I leave her out and put Kylie in? There are no apologies - the author includes people who have made it by themselves to some point of stature, not by marriage to a politician.
