I'll demonstrate just one example out of many as the riddle "Meeting Day" (page 60-1): 3 friends start their exercise in a health club at different days (Mon., Wed., Fri.), 1st friend attends the club every 2 days, the 2nd every 3 days, the 3rd every 7 days. The question is: on which day of this month will the friends meet? Perhaps out of habitual the author solution (p. 110-1) is based on creating for all the three friends possible attendance dates tables, and alternative attendance dates tables from which one need to find a common date that all 3 friends are present. (( I have an alternative and easier approach to tackle this puzzle and enjoy it without long tables of comparing data, I'll just hint: one should keep in mind that each friend starts attending at different date;secondly, use a variation in the common denominator)). Most of the riddles couldn't be solved by a shortcut, one must take the tedious bookkeeper's approach Hence, the name for my review a "Bookkeeper's Logic".
