Reapers inc, the business of reaping souls and delivering them to whatever heaven, hell or limbo their beliefs have in store for them. Angela Roquet has the truly creative mind of a natural born storyteller, the book is full of action and humour from the beginning. I'm afraid to say I downloaded it at night and couldn't put it down until I finished it in the wee hours. I have already bought the next two books and am keeping them ready for a special read-athon over the weekend. Nothing spooky about this story - treat yourself to this and you wont be disappointed.

Well this is something new. I've not come across this before. It is funny and funky. The characters are all totally American in concept. So it has a Hollywood feel to it. But despite that it is very readable and has lots of interesting ideas. I did get a little bored towards the end and I don't know if I could read another one but very, very well done for something new and original.

I was sceptical about Rouquet's style at first. Far too much detail was given to relationships and too much description to appearances for my tastes in literature. However, I persevered, and I'm glad I did.
What begins as a slightly benign simulation of reality in a creative setting quickly ascends to be a thoroughly enjoyable exploration of religion, duty and virtue.
I picked this up as a light read and was pleasantly enthralled by the the depth of Roquet's work. I was quickly engaged by her allusions to both modern and traditional religion. I found that I warmed to the characters despite my initial concerns of them being too stereotypically portrayed and the threat that despite a great setting the narrative would become cloying.
Roquet is clearly very intelligent. She has done her research and she has presented a fantastical world full of lessons. I found myself reminded of things I had long forgotten, engaged by ideas I had never found and delighted by her presentation.
Any author who can douse an enjoyable story with as much philosophy deserves significant praise. While at times it may seem trite, what's compelling about this story is how delicately, considerately, and at times beautifully, this story is weaved.
There's more than a little to evidence worthy of comparing this book to the works of Pratchett or Gaimon. And that's very high praise!

Leaving aside the spelling mistake in the cover I decided to read this book because it sounded like a good read.

No.... setting the scene and mechanics of the book whilst keeping the narrative going just did not happen. I did not identify with the heroine she seems to be a being without any energy or decision making abilities.

Just not for me.

Initially bought this book as it was free, so glad I did, well out of the ordinary, different and believable. I really got into the mind of the main character Lana and find it hard to put this book down. Read it, you will love it.

I enjoyed this book, storytelling is very good, demons, gods, and reapers - what more could you ask for. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the ending was a bit weak - you have to get the next book to continue the story. Still enjoyed it though

I feel like I missed something. It seemed to just end so suddenly.

I struggled with it from the off. I never quite got the gist of what it was all about. Was it just about finding a replacement and the insider? Huh.

Then I'm disappointed. I wanted more of something, anything. I won't be continuing the series.

A unique look at how the afterlife is built, and the system has evolved over time, and wars.
800 years of calm between the realms, begins to shake. Political maneuvering and alliances are sensing weakness in Grims steel grip on limbo city. one lone reapers who skates by doing the bare minimum due to feeling like a slave to an ungrateful master Grim. Finds after 300yrs all isn't as it seems, first book sets the stage for a force to be reckon with. A reaper with no care for bulls***, double deals, and ego... Learns lessons about playing well with others, and knowing when to cut to the point via her axe.
With all books of this nature, scenes amd stages have to be made in the mind, but the joy of series books is there are less in the following.
I enjoyed this book very much and will be following with the next two while the stage is still set.
