My second quadcopter after a Husban X4 mini, wanted to learn how to fly bigger and better Quads and this one ticks all the boxes, it's not racer and never will be, but that's not who this quad is made for, its made for beginners, just like me. I have crashed this so many times, the prop guards get damaged but some tape sorts that out, flight time isn't that long, but take the camera off the bottom and its better, the camera works, but that's about the best can be said for it, mine is now tucked away in the spare bits n bobs draw.
If you are looking for a first quad this is a great choice, it flies well and is very easy and stable, prefect for kids, if you don't want to spend a lot and want something that won't break in the first few days, you can fly it indoors if you have a large room, but it's not ideal, with the control on rate 1 its supper slow great for learning but not great if there is more than a slight breeze, press the button for rate 2 and things are much better but again, this thing is so light that it will get blown around a bit, so if you go up above your fence hieght early on, be prepared to go knocking on neighbours doors to get it back if you are flying in a small backyard.
Overall a great first choice just to play around with to see if flying quads is something you want to get into or not, parts are cheap and readily available on Amazon if you do break anything, but like I said I have crashed lots and lots of times and so far hot clue and tape are all the spares I have needed, the only thing you will need are extra batteries, I got 4 x 700mah ones with a charger that work well, with the camera removed it flies for about 10-12 minutes or so, less if you are giving it lots of juice.
Had this for 2 weeks now and I am having so much fun with it. Easy to fly and once you get a feel for the controls you will be wanting to race it. Or just go fast Range is ok 100feet or so. Camera is good and quality of picture and videos is good. But I tend to fly it with minimal weight for more control and extended flight times.
I treated this drone like it was built to survive, and it is built to survive. Admitignly one of the engine cogs is broke and waiting of parts, but you can pick up replacement drone packs for about £8-15, but I have flown this hard, and it is a brilliant starter drone, for price, flight time and durability and controls.
I am now waiting of the Syma S5SW FPV, as I wanna move up to a diy racing drone. And these symas are the perfect.
And if you treat yours with more respect then mine, then no parts should break. I love extreme flying so i was bound to break a part or 2.
for the price point this is a truly amazing product. It works out of the box, and is really easy to fligh, compared with helicopters. It's take a few hard falls but bounces back reliably and not damaged in anyway. It got stuck in a tree and survived with no rotor blade impact.
Camera is really good for the price you pay. Not GoPro but very clear and great fun to see your journeys as a drone eye view.
You do need space though, it is very sensitive going up and down so make sure you have 50m min either side!
Highly recommend getting a set of backup batteries as it does last for 7-10mins flying and less with camera recording. Can get a set of 4 for about a tenner on Amazon.
Well packaged. Easy to set up. Comes with small screwdriver. Recommend pitching additional batteries and charger if you are like me. Never flown anything so still practicing. Just wanted to try. Not masterd it yet but the controls appears very good and procice.... once I get better. Not tried the camara as yet so can't comment. Need to be able to fly it better first.
I hovered between two and three stars on this. The quadcopter itself is good for this price range, but customer service is not. Regardless of price ! The 'copter flys well and is quite easy to control with practice. My son is much better at that than me. Photo' quality is improving with practice. The buying experience was let down by poor customer service. The original listing I saw offered a spare battery and memory card. Neither arrived with the package. With the battery, I clicked on a 'what other customers bought' tab, this led me to a slightly different product which did not offer battery, my mistake you may say. The memory card was going to be forwarded. Two months later, no sign. They are cheap enough now, but annoying non the less. Read and re-read listings before ordering.
This was recommended as a robust and easy to fly ideal first RC copter. I bought the extra crash protection kit, started to get the hang of flying indoors when a motor stopped working.I contacted the supplier who told me to contact a uk supplier.I bought a new motor and fitted it.Back to flying,oh no, the copter flew for a few batteries (7mins a go)then it started to spin on one corner and will not rise,I've tried changing motors and contacting Syma,it's still spinning on one corner. The only good thing is the camera. You get what you pay for i suppose but it's not a good starting point
After trying several low cost 'starter' drones, this was the first success. It is stable and easy to fly- and takes fair pictures and movies. It survives multiple crashes due to the robust, flexible construction and blade protectors. I would deduct one star for not having a headless - but it is low cost!
