Research funded by Google. See goo.gle/mobilesecurityscorecard for more information. 2 Not available in all languages or countries. Car crash detection may not detect all accidents. High-impact activities may trigger calls to the emergency services. This feature is dependent upon network connectivity and may not be reliable for emergency communications or available in all areas. Requires location, physical activity, and microphone permissions to work. Battery Saver and Airplane Mode must be switched off. For more information, see g.co/pixel/personalsafety. 4 Screen sharing is not available on group calls. Requires Wi-Fi or 5G internet connection. Not available on all apps and content. Data rates may apply. 5G service, speed and performance depend on many factors including, but not limited to, carrier network capabilities, device configuration and capabilities, network traffic, location, signal strength, and signal obstruction. 5 Requires a 5G data plan (sold separately). 5G service and roaming not available on all operator networks or in all areas and may vary by country. Contact operator for details. 5G service, speed and performance depend on many factors including, but not limited to, operator network capabilities, device configuration and capabilities, network traffic, location, signal strength and signal obstruction. Actual results may vary. Some features are not available in all areas. Data rates may apply. See g.co/pixel/networkinfo for info. 6 Enabling gameplay with mobile data may increase your mobile data usage up to 2.7 GB/hr. Gameplay is service-, network-, connection- and game-dependent, and may not be available for all games in all areas. 7 For ‘All day’: Maximum battery life based on testing using a mix of talk, data, standby and use of other features. Testing was conducted on two major operator networks using Sub-6 GHz non-standalone 5G (ENDC) connectivity. For ‘Up to 48 hours’: Maximum battery life based on testing using a mix of talk, data, standby and use of limited other features that are default in Extreme Battery Saver mode (which disables various features including 5G connectivity). Testing was conducted on two major operator networks. For both claims: Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 battery testing was conducted by a third party in California in mid-2020 on pre-production hardware and software using default settings, except that, for the ‘up to 48 hour claim’ only, Extreme Battery Saver mode was enabled. Battery life depends upon many factors, and usage of certain features will decrease battery life. Actual battery life may be lower. 8 Google Assistant and some related features are not available in all languages. See g.co/assistant/languages for updates to language availability.

As soon as I started to check out the phone, and set it up was absolutely clear something is not okay with the battery, it is cannot be 4000mAh, while my old phone (5 years old) with much less, can last maybe even longer...
I did a battery health check, and it says, compared to the designed capacity of 4000mAh, it is only capable of 3360mAh, which is not even closed to the 4000....
I'm very disappointed, and I believe you shouldn't state it is on an excellent condition! I choose the pixel 5 against the pixel 4a for it's battery life, but this one doesn't last long!
I's a shame, as the phone itself is a really good design, but I won't keep it, I will look for it somewhere else!
Using a midrange chip and keeping the screen at 90hz does wonders for battery life. I'm averaging 8 hours of screen on time and reaching the end of most days with 50%+ battery. I'm quite amazed. This is a two day phone battery for me.
Camera quality is excellent as you would expect from Pixel. The photos and contrasty, punchy, and sharp. I still think the Pixel takes the best looking photos. It's close and the competition is catching up but you can't beat this phone for photo quality consistency.
The screen is good too. An OLED panel which in my eyes looks as good as any other flagship phone on the market. Gets really dim and brightness outside is okay too.
I should mention that the haptics are also good. Slightly different to Pixel 3 and not as good as iPhone haptics but still a cut above other Android phones.
There aren't many negatives with this phone. The speaker quality could be better but it's loud enough and perfectly usable for watching YouTube and listening to Spotify occasionally. Yes the lack of face unlock is technically a downgrade from Pixel 4 but when you're using a facemask or covering a fingerprint reader is far more consistent and also very quick! It's a shame but you also lose Active Edge (which I personally was a big fan of), but I guess that's not unexpected given the lower price.
All in all, Pixel 5 checks all the boxes for a great phone. Stellar performance, great battery life, expectedly amazing camera, screen quality, price. Wireless charging and IP68 certification are nice to have too, unlike some phones (I'm looking at you OnePlus Nord/8T). Pixel 5 shows that you don't need to pay £1000+ for a flagship phone. What you're paying for with those more expensive phones is a higher tier processor that makes no difference to day to day use, more cameras (two cameras is perfectly fine, quantity does not equal quality), potentially larger, higher resolution 120hz display. Are those worth the several hundred pound premium over phones like the Pixel 5? I personally don't think so.
I think Google has nailed it this year with the price point and the features!
When the buttons started falling off the Samsung (yes, really) I decided that enough was enough and bought my current Pixel 5 - and what a breath of fresh air it has been.
This phone, despite being a similar price to the Samsung, is a much better built device. The main body has a lovely satin finish that is soft to the touch while remaining grippy and fingerprint-free. The buttons are solid and tactile, and the fingerprint sensor works every single time (a big improvement on Pixel 3a).
Additionally, the size is just about perfect for me - not ridiculously oversized as seems to have become the fashion.
Most importantly, the OS works exactly the way you want it to, with zero bloat. The phone is fast and has not frozen or stuttered on me once.
The screen is also bright and looks good to my eyes. Battery life is more than sufficient, on par with the S20 FE certainly. I'm not a photographer by any means and have found the cameras to be great.
If you ask me, this is the best phone on the market for non-silly money. Ignore whatever the 'pro' reviewers saw: Samsung quality and software still leave an awful lot to be desired.
The Pixel 5 is a phone that is everything you want it to be: it feels good in the hand, and provides a slick and smooth user experience. For me that makes it the best phone phone you can buy, and relative to the cost of other top-end phones it's also excellent value for money.
So glad I made the change as battery lift is so good I forget to charge it overnight but it still keeps going.
Camera also brilliant and ties in so much smoother with my Google accounts.
Only thing I'm not loving is the fact I can't fill the top of my Homescreen with Apps as it saves a space notifications/calendar items... Apparently there are ways around it, yet to try them.
Definitely recommend this phone.
