I first turned to DE shaving over ten years ago after getting fed up of razor burn and in-growing hair problems from using multi-blade cartridge razors (not the best this man could get, that's for sure). I had been using a Merkur razor for most of those ten years. I bought the Goodfella on a whim, just because I liked the more contemporary styling (not a great reason, I know).

When I first got my Goodfella razor, I was a little underwhelmed. It was smaller and lighter than I had expected. However, after using it, it quickly became my favourite razor.

The Goodfella's weight is no indication of the quality of the manufacture nor the materials used - this razor is beautifully made. It's worth remembering that the razor comes with a lifetime guarantee. If any part fails, Goodfella promise to replace it. That's not a guarantee I see even on Merkur or Muhle razors.

In the past, I always steered away from open comb design razors as I found them a little too aggressive. However, the Goodfella is simultaneously the mildest and closest shaving razor I have. For the uninitiated, there are some who prefer to use "aggressive" razors. These set the blade almost perpendicular to the skin. "Milder" razors tend to be angled somewhat, which I prefer as I have sensitive skin. The received wisdom is that more aggressive = closer shave. The Goodfella turns that on its head.

Although small, the Goodfella is beautifully balanced. I got used to the size very quickly and I now prefer the handling of this razor to chunkier designs. On the point of styling, the razor is a mix of traditional and modern. It is mostly smooth and clean, with an embossed "G" on the head and grooves on the barrel for grip.

I have the black version of this, but it's exactly the same. Yes this razor is an open comb & yet it's not scary at all! In fact it's VERY mild & absolutely lovely to use. The only problem i found was that i had to touch up my face a bit more than with my Edwin Jagger, but that's not really a problem is it..? I'm hoping that this company grows & introduces us to more interesting products. If you've already got "the shaving problem" then this is a really different aquisition. Enjoy!

This is my newest edition to my collection and has quickly become a favourite.
Initially i steered away from the open comb design believing it to be too keen, especially for my sensitive skin, but decided i would give the Goodfella a go after reading several reviews stating quite the opposite.
So glad i did, first impressions are this is a well designed, high quality razor that appears rather small, however it is nice in the hand well weighted and has surprisingly grippy feel to it, the head is very slim compared to the Merkurs/Muhle/Jagger/Timors i own which makes a nice change when tackling the under nostril and sideburn areas as the design helps greatly with accuracy.
Another thing you notice with the open comb design is that the blade removes your shaving cream, not the safety bar before it so you are less likely to miss areas which saves on having to touch up after your final pas.
All in all a lovely razor that although a little more expensive is in my opinion well worth it!

I bought this used in as new condition on eBay on a whim. I normally use a merkur 38c and Edwin Jagger 89 which have similar very mild heads. It's a beautiful little instrument very small but feels nice in my big hand. I think this is more aggressive than the above mentioned but not much more. It is great round the under nose area where the thicker razor heads don't easily go. I aim for a super smooth shave every day and normally need three passes plus tidying. I still need this with this razor but the results are superb using a feather blade. I have a hint of post shave soreness but nothing much. I think this is very good quality and design "serious" razor but at £60 plus a bit pricey alongside, say, the Edwin Jagger at £20 ish but it's small, neat, balanced and agile and I think I will enjoy this.
