To put it simply, from the moment I read the description of this book I was hooked. Add to that the subject matter and the fact that it was a debut novel by a male author....well...let's just say I was extremely intrigued. Now, that I'm finished, I'm lost for words. I loved it!
I went to bed one night with 'The Goode Fight' and woke up the next morning with an intense fondness for a guy named Stellan.
The storyline was full of captivating twists and scorching hot bends that kept me on the edge, in the best way possible. The characters are what really got me. They reeled me in from the get go with how 'goofy', intense and realistic they were.
Stellan and Taylor sent me on one hell of a roller coaster ride of emotions, which I didn't want to get off of.
As we all know though...all good things have to come to an end...and this one was a 'cliffhanger'. Normally that would annoy me, however, it felt natural for this book to finish where it did and set a perfect place for its sequel to begin.
I definitely recommend giving this book a read and putting your faith in a great new author. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you Seth King, I'm looking forward to seeing where Stellan and Taylor's journey takes us next.
The characters in this story are well written with good character descriptions and Stellan in particular is written with a lot of depth. I will admit I rolled my eyes at Taylor a few times, she comes across as immature at certain points.. One scene in particular when she was 'acting' had me cringing for her...but Stellan handles it perfectly. I did like how goofy and awkward she seemed...it was enduring. Stellan is an alpha male who is fiercely protective , naughty (yum), demanding, and behind his tough, quite demeanor is a solid heart of gold. Yes, he is gorgeous but good looks only takes you so far, its whats inside of him that makes him extremely like able and worth investing into as a character.
I also found the plot and social aspects of it really interesting. The topics that were touched on and how the 'twist' came about were refreshing and different.
***On a serious note I want to commend (hug, really) this author for in the way he stuck up for disabled people and his stance on the use of the R word (retard). Many many many authors use this word in such a derogatory and hurtful way. I get that they just throw it out there as another term for stupid but as someone who loves someone (my uncle) who is intellectual challenged the last thing he is, is stupid. He is pure love and every time I hear that word from a friend, in a book or even a movie I cringe inside. Every single time. So Thank YOU for taking such a welcome stance on it...
I'm off to read his second book that just came out.. Don't miss out on this promising new author!!!
This was probably one of the best debut novels that I have had the pleasure to read in a long time. This book was flawless from the character development to the writing style (except for a few misspelled words), to the flow of the story line. There is not a single thing that I would change about this amazing writer's book, it was a mind blowing surprise! PLEASE, I DESPERATELY NEED TO GET MY HANDS ON THE SEQUEL!!!
I went back on some of the reviews written by other readers and was appalled that they had the nerve to compare what you wrote to Stephanie Meyer and the twilight books. Those fools are idiots! I can't believe they had the audacity to compare you to her! This book is nothing like the twilight series. I can't even begin to fathom how they came up with that.
i totally loved this book! I instantly fell in love with Stellan and Taylor! I love that we find out about Stellans past but that we have to wait to hear what Taylor has hidden in her past. Ugh and that whore of a friend Cara! I was glad when Taylor finally put her in her place!
I was shocked with the ending and to quote your words Mr. King you left me with the female version of blue balls! I can't wait to read the next installment of this series. This was a great book to read while I'm stuck in bed with the flu! I still can't believe i read it all in just a few hours! Keep them coming!!!!!!!
