Product description

Product Description

Alicia Florrick (Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Julianna Margulies) brings her sharp mind and signature grace to challenges both in and out of the courtroom. This season, she falls in sync with estranged husband Peter (Chris Noth) even as she and Will (Josh Charles) continue to flirt with temptation. And her career is finally flourishing as she's offered partnership status and gains more power at the office. Diane (Christine Baranski), Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Kalinda (Emmy winner Archie Panjabi) each face their own predicaments as the firm pulls out from under its debt, Cary struggles to carve his own niche, and Kalinda tangles with a volatile, mysterious ex-husband. Peter's gubernatorial campaign hits its stride, as Eli (Alan Cumming) falls under Federal investigation and battles new threats to his candidate's political future. The fallout reaches Alicia, as well, as she braves a new barrage of personal and professional adversaries, challenging her roles as a mother, lawyer and woman. In this 22-episode, 6-disc set, Alicia tests her boundaries, pushes her limits and proves her status as a good wife and a powerful leader.

I absolutely love this series. Superb writing for quite a large cast of major characters, fine acting & engrossing, clever storylines, topped off by an hypnotic performance by " The Good Wife " herself Julianna Margulies as lawyer & state attorney's wife Alicia Florrick, Though she is almost upstaged by the firm's mysterious but brilliant investigator Kalinda Sharma, played by the amazing Archie Panjabi - a long way from " Bend It Like Beckham " Archie. The standard of writing & acting as been constantly superb from series 1 to 4. Seek it out when series 5 arrives on More 4, better still buy the box sets from series 1 & bask in the warm glow of a brilliantly conceived intelligent drama series, the sort that the Americans do so well but never better than this, though if you look closely there is quite a bit of British influence in this..

The law firm of Lockhard/Gardner is heavily in debt and may well go under. Trustee Clarke Hayden(Nathan Lane) moves in to enforce rigid economies - sixty million dollars to be raised in just a few months. Surely mission impossible. What hope now? Will there be a mass exodus? Where do Alicia's loyalties lie?

22 episodes, all skilfully crafted with several themes skilfully interwoven. Head of an excellent cast, Julianna Margulies continues to shine as she tries to juggle her commitments as lawyer, wife (her once errant husband now campaigning for Governor), and mother. (Teens Grace and Zach remain remarkably well adjusted in the circumstances - likeable too, unlike their ghastly grans.)

Guest stars enhance. Michael J. Fox is back, as devious Louis Canning. Also in no way to be trusted are characters played by Kyle MacLachlan and Matthew Perry. Hilariously returning is Maura Tierney as lawyer Elsbeth, on the surface scatty but capable of exocets that annihilate opposition. A surprise is Marc Warren as investigator Kalinda's husband Nick - he creepy and increasingly dangerous.

The court cases remain highlights, no holds barred when fighting controversial cases.

Bonuses include deleted scenes, features on directing, costuming and sex content (the show, not being on cable, limited on how far it can go).

As usual it uplifts to see so much that is so good, storylines ever stronger with no sign of flagging. Undercurrents abound as circumstances and loyalties change, there surely enough scope for many more seasons.

Salute a truly great series, well deserving the acclaim.

First of all note, that in each series year, the title of the episode has as many words as the series Year. Year one- title is one word, Year four- title us four words.

When all is said and done the fourth season of The Good Wife is a good one. It brings with it the most amazing music. We Know the amazing cast, Julianne Margolis is the Good Wife, Chris Noth is the Bad Husband, and this thing about the marriage, does it break up, what does the Good Wife do, how does the family react, and what about that mother-in-law?

We know the firm where Alicia is now an attorney, Lockhart and Gardner. Will Gardner played by Josh Child's is an old lover of Alicia, Diane Lockhart, played by Christine Baranski is the other formidable partner. Archie Panjabi plays the sexy, wonderful Kalinda. Alan Cumming plays Eli Gold, the cunning chief of staff for Peter. How the world does roll.

Kalinda has a prime partbin this series. She lets us know she is not gay, but she is flexible. An old flame, husband finds her, and they are not on good terms except in bed, and now in the courtroom. Expect fireworks. Peter faces a formidable political opponent as he rubs for Governor, and he faces a big surprise, The guest stars are ever more brighter and funnier.

When the Good Wife started there had been a rash of good wives of politicians whose husbands had done them wrong. What a wonderful opportunity for a series. However. As the series moves along, we find Alicia Florrick as the Good Wife. Will she forgive her husband, Peter, as he Enters jail for corruption charges? As the States Attorney for Cook County will this end his career?

And, as the series follows Alicia, what happens to the Good Wife after the scandal wears down? How does the family move on, we discover all of this in season one. A remarkable cast and an excellent first season. Kudos reign for all.

Recommended. prisrob 04-23-17
