Fantastic book! So much better than fifty shades etc.as there's a brilliant story that goes with it! I read this book in just a couple of days, it was so hard to put down :). A brilliant raunchy, erotic novel that is full of surprises and certainly has you guessing! A must read!
A steamy detective novel filled with suspicion, intrigue and sex. A man leading two lives. Murders threaten to expose his secret… Forget Fifty Shades – Marcus Good is IT!
‘The Good in Mister Philips’ has it all! It is engrossing and captivating – you want to read on and not in the least because of the naughty bits! The author combines a cleverly plotted story with erotic images, painted in such a way that you feel your cheeks blushing so furiously as if they are literally burning and everyone must notice! But apart from the erotic scenes, the plot draws you in as no one is what he or she appears to be. Random occurrences all have their consequences, police investigations seem to focus on one suspect and then go in totally different directions… And then the plot twist! Wow! Did not see that coming… not saying though, you will have to read for yourself!
It is difficult to say much about the characters, what I liked about them, their flaws for fear of giving away the plot. Let’s just say that some evoke strong feelings of empathy whereas I instantly disliked others and to me, that goes to show how true to life the author created the characters in his novel. There is also a deeper layer within the book, exploring a fascinating topic but again, I cannot tell you about it, you have to read it for yourself! ‘The Good in Mister Philips’ is a fast-paced, explicit and expertly crafted erotic thriller you won’t be able to put down until you have reached the last pages! A recommended read for you – whether you read it alone or perhaps together…?!
This is the third book I’ve read by Paul Davies and as usual he doesn't disappoint. Glad to say there’s none of your 50 shades repetitive rubbish in this book. Don’t get me wrong it’s definitely erotic, thus the over 18's warning, and it's definitely full of thrills, suspense, murder and mystery. What more could you want in a book? The author had me hooked from the first page. It's a gripping read and kept me guessing throughout as the twists and turns develop. So much so, I read the book over a few days as it has everything in it to keep you on the edge of your seat. Just loved it and can’t wait to read his next book
I wasn't sure just what to expect when I ordered this book, because of the explicit sexual and violent content that summarised it.However, having read and been impressed with this author's previous books, I set about reading it with an open mind - it did not disappoint. As in his earlier books, the characters quickly manifested from the print to draw the reader into a compelling tale. The Walter Matthau world of Mr Philips evolved into a multitude of avenues and clever turns, all the time being extremely readable and never predictable. There came a brief episode of bewilderment, where I thought I must have misread an earlier part of the book and then pow - utter brilliance. A superb book with a twist that leaves you feeling like your mind has been messed with. Well done once again PA Davies.
I was privileged enough to see the work that went into this book from the first couple of chapters until the very end. I have read numerous versions of different parts of it and have read the book in full at least five times. The amount of work and dedication that went into the creating of this novel is amazing and the reason for it being such an enthralling read. Yes, it is an erotic novel, but it is an erotic novel like no other. I have read the most popular of erotic novels on the market and to be honest I wasn't bowled away, finding the content to be repetitive and really nothing more than sex with 'a story' put in there to fill out the pages. This book is a story which happens to have some erotic content. Well written erotic content at that. The storyline is gripping with more twists and turns than you could imagine. Despite reading the book from the start, there were times when I was still confused but to me this is the beauty of it and all becomes clear in the end. I absolutely could not put this little beauty down. I was texting Paul constantly as I read telling him to hurry up and right the next bit because the suspense at the end of each chapter is amazing. To me, there is no 'best bit'. I am terrible for flicking through books to find the juicy bits but with this I read every word and was completely gripped. The story is exciting, the characters can be related to and are likeable and all in all it is just a captivating novel! Definitely one to get in suitcase for your summer holidays. Better still, read it en-route and the journey will fly by because you will not want to stop reading! Take 'Letterbox' and 'George' two other novels by this talented author along as well as they are both fantastic reads too! I cannot wait for the book that this talented guy is currently working on. Watch this space. With his imagination, anything is possible!
Wow! Only once you get to the end of this book can you understand exactly what is going through my mind right now! This book has such an exhilarating climax (pardon the pun) that, needless to say, if I was to reference any part of it in a review, I might ruin the experience for you. Yes it is an erotic thriller, and that may not be everybody's cup of tea, but it is without question a thriller to challenge all other thrillers, and that is why this novel knocked me on my ass and had me obsessing with every turn of the page. A very clever book that will no doubt leave you speechless!
All is definitely not what it seems! I've spent the last 48 hours with my head buried in this book. Just when you think you have it all sewn up... you really don't! Captivating from the start with a hint of fruitiness. Maybe not the best idea to read at work, mainly to save your colleagues blushes when he requests you turn back the page so he can continue to read it over your shoulder! High five P.A Davies! Very cleverly written, would highly recommend.
Well I have not long since finished The Good In Mr Philips and what a book of twists and turns! I enjoyed trying to work out the murder plot but the minute you think you know what is going on RA.Davies swiftly introduces something else in to the mix throwing all yours thoughts and preemptions out of the window. Cleverly written, gripping 'on the edge of your seat' stuff during some parts with several blushing moment during the few rude sections of the book. Definitely worth a read and exactly as described...murders, passion and lust with lots of guessing and mental manipulation. 1 was confused in parts (but that doesn't take much) all becomes clear at the end.
I never get chance to read books trying to jungle work and kids but I heard so much about it and thought I would give it a try. I was engrossed immediately .. Funny how you can make time when you want to. This book has definitely opened my eyes lets say and it has also made me want to read Paul's other books. The book is very erotic and had me blushing on several occasions but also has a brilliant twist towards the end. At one point I actually thought I was reading a different book until I continued to read and it all became clear. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and would definitely like to meet a man like this ha ha !!
This has to be the best book I've read in a long time! What you think is just going to be an erotic novel hits you like a freight train with it's twist & turns. Once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down, determined to work out the plot - not a chance!! Very cleverly written, packed with attention to details keeping you on the edge of you seat with the turn of every page & WOW what an ending! I will read every book written by this author - worth every penny!
