I write this review 15 months after I bought the belt, and on the day I threw it in the bin. Others have commented on the belt's stiffness, and some have mentioned pain felt above and below the belt when wearing it. One reviewer claimed that the belt felt as if it were made of stiff cardboard. Well, I can tell you that that's because it is made of stiff cardboard!! Mine was slowly tearing for months, and when it finally packed in this week, I could clearly see that its construction is of two thin (1-2mm) layers of leather, sandwiching a thicker layer of cardboard in the middle. I'm not joking. In fact, on close inspection, you can see the cardboard even where there's no damage, along the edge of the belt. The main purpose of the 'reinforced', 'heavy-duty stitching' is no doubt to keep the three layers together! For 15 months, I've been relying on about 4mm of cardboard and a couple of leather strips to keep my spine safe. Gold's Gym are clearly cowboys. They describe this belt as being made of leather; they do not mention the cardboard. I'll never buy from them again.

Size: Medium (30-34")
The belt IS the one pictured, I am presuming the other reviewer received a different belt by mistake.

It is very sturdy with a buckle clasp, made from fairly stiff leather that gives excellent support. I use it for deadlifts and squats and have not had any problems with 'comfort', it does the job it was designed to do perfectly.

I bought a medium and am on the middle setting (32" waist), therefore I would say a medium would suit between 30-34" waists.

If you want a weight belt, I would recommend it. If you want a soft belt, maybe cotton would be a more suitable material...

Size: X-Large (38-42") Verified Purchase
Bought an X-large thinking it will be big enough but i couldn't put it further than the first pair of holes on the belt. fair enough, should still hold i was thinking... Then came the deadlift, and the belt was so hard it was actually causing pain both below and above the belt, couldn't use it properly for what I needed it for.

This belt is more for high street gym users who don't lift properly rather than heavy lifters :(((

Size: Large (34-38")
The belt which I recieved is not that pictured with belt secured fastenings, but with a velcro system. The belt still fits, but it is very misleading to show this image and supply a different belt to the customer!!!!

Size: Small (26-30") Verified Purchase
This is a well made belt with buckle and Gold's Gym stitching. I decided to buy a belt after I started to lift heavier weights on squat and deadlift and wanted to protect my lower back. For the price it's 5 stars.

I am a 32-33 waist and purchased a medium belt under the recommendation of the sizing guide. WAY TOO SMALL! I am currently on the last setting on the belt and obviously this is not ideal. I would therefore suggest that if you are a similar size to me, get a large.
