'Golden Daze' captures the period around the late 1970's well, providing nostalgia (I'd forgotten that condoms used to be called 'rubber johnnys') and a good insight into a young man's journey into the big world beyond university, wrapped around characters familiar to us all. A 'good fun' read.

This book took me back to my youth, what a great time to be discovering life in and around Watford.

The book brought back to life all those little things you tend to lock away in a secure filing cabinet within your brain and only find the key for every now and again.

Even if you are not a Watford fan, there is no getting away with the fact that this brings back to you all the things that were currently going on: Thatcherism; miners strikes; high interest rates and all that brought with it.

A very easy read, full of humour and as I said, if you're a Watford fan, memories of probably the best times of the club's history - maybe next year a new chapter will begin to be written...

If you lived in Watford in the late 70's and grew up in the first Taylor era then this book is for you. A great read for all true fans that saw and lived the "Elton John Taylor Made Army" - promotions, cup runs. runners up to a great Liverpool side beating them 2-1 to finish second, european escapades and of course the 84 Final. If you remeber and are of this era - buy it and enjoy the laughs and the fun times that will , perhaps just may be, come again. COYH!

I am surpised how much I enjoyed Golden Daze as I thought it would be all about football but thank god it was'nt it is a book for females as well as the men so dont be put off by the cover. It really captured the past for me in the descriptions of the era. It made me laugh.
