This fine dry wine is produced using selected pinot blanc grapes, enhanced by a dash of liqueur with edible gold flakes. Provenance: Germany Vol : 200ml % Vol alcohol: 12.5% Grape: 100% Pinot Blanc. Vinification: During the first natural fermentation, the grapes are gently pressed out and kept in cool deep cellars - temperature controlled over weeks and months. The second fermentation continues until the cellarmasters years of experience tell him that Gold Cuvee has reached its perfect quality and amazing sparkle.

You cannot feel or taste the gold flakes at all - a good thing. And gold is very low reactivity, and even needed, in small amounts, so will not hurt you in any way.
Unfortunately, gold IS heavier than the liquid, and so has a tendency to sink to the bottom, in spite of the bubbles. I found the last couple of glasses much more heavily gold-laced than the first couple. You could do what you are not supposed to, and tilt (but not shake) the bubbly, to get a more even distribution, otherwise all the gold will be left in the final dregs, and not much in the earlier glasses.
It was for my 50th birthday. I'll have only one in my life, so don't really regret ONE instance of "more money than sense", but wouldn't buy this again, for myself or someone else. You can get much nicer for less, and the gold flakes are just a gimmick, really. If you're open to spending this amount of money on a festive treat, forget the gold flakes, and indulge in a higher quality wine or champagme.
