•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••

This series must be listened to(or read) in order. The first book is Playing For Keeps. This is the second book. I can't wait to listen to Huddle Up!

Hannah has serious issues. Her mother raised her to be a beauty queen instead of a real girl. All she knew were beauty treatments and pageants until her first big modeling break. Homeschooling from her mother was a joke. And yet no matter what she did she was never good enough. She never feels like she is enough, can ever be enough. Raising herself legally since she was 16 gave her some confidence but it is really just a pretty shell. Can she really have a real future with Jake? Or is he just like every other man? Will he try and exploit her like all the others? How can her really care for her? How can she possibly be enough?

Jake had a rough life. Football saved him from his selfdestrutive tendencies by giving him an outlet for his aggression and anger issues. It saved his life and made him a star. Now not even football can keep him calm. Hannah got under his skin and he is not sure he can live without her. How will he win her back? Will they be able to make it long term? Or is she like the rest of the women and seeking fame and news coverage? Is he in love with her? Will he be able to make her see they are meant to be together?

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy chicklit steamy sports romances with a HEA and a good dose of humor :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but JUST right 29 Jun. 2012

I was skeptical about this book because of the cover and the mention of explicit sex. Sex is a given in romance novels and eroticas but I just don't care much for the overtly cheesy, "dirty" dialogue, unsexy correct terms for body parts and the like.

But it was $0.99 and a sample doesn't hurt anyone. So after reading that I was interested, bought it and really kind of loved it.

Short and sweet yet just RIGHT on what I love and want out of romance novels.

Jake Martin and Hannah Hahn are the couple you want to see in the tabloids. He's the Superbowl MVP quarterback, she's a Victoria Secret model. Both are attractive and interesting. But behind the scenes these two are fighting their attractive. Seven months prior, the two had a week long fling that was quickly turning into more until an upcoming photo shoot for Playboy and a blowout ended the bliss. Fast forward, the two meet up again at her best friend's and his teammates wedding. You know what they say about groomsmen and bridesmaids.

Jake and Hannah rekindle their romance while holding their cards close to the vest. While just a week of sex, the two ended up falling for each other but with their careers and tempers they hold it in.

These two are a hero and heroine you want to root for. Both have everything going for them but they both have their demons. His with his father and hers with both her father and mother. You want to cry for Hannah when past with her mother is revealed. Both are what the other needs to grow stronger.

There's just enough sex (which in my opinion is how sex should be in romance novels. It was hot yet it wasn't nasty and odd monologues when the two should be focusing on the actual sex instead of spouting paragraph after paragraph about how good it feels, what her see-you-next-Tuesday looks like and so forth) that takes me out of the moment and is a distraction. It's like that awkwardness when you don't know what to say so you just start saying unnecessary stuff. Erotica sex scenes and most romance sex scenes are like that for me. WAY too much dialogue during the actual sex and too much descriptions on body parts.

There were some minor typos. A "he" instead of "her" and "you" instead of "your" and similar things but not too many to be an annoyance.

I'm not too disappointed on it being short because there was no time for the story to drag. It had potential to drag had it been longer. Unnecessary angst when Jake was gone for training camp but because of the shortness, time moves forward and we get to the gist of things. It ends nicely in a bow but it was perfect for me.

This little shorty gets it right. It's just enough to pack a punch and leave you satisfied.

Overall: it's $0.99 and for that, if you want a smile and a satisfying read, PICK IT UP.
4.0 out of 5 stars Jake is a fighter not just on the football field but at home with Hannah and he is in the battle for his future plans 6 Oct. 2014

Jake sees the opportunity to get introduced to Hannah, the girl of his dark intimate moments and fantasies while lusting in the VS pages of lingerie, when her roommate Samantha, a sports journalist is in his football teams locker room after a game. When Samantha gives him Hannah's number she says, "Remember, you asked for it." When she leaves he turns to Ryan, his teammate and childhood friend of Samantha's, and asks again, "What does that mean?" Ryan replies, "Hannah is a man-eater."
Jake has to come up with a plan so that he is in charge of this relationship with Hannah as he has no plans to be a quickie to the woman of his dreams. It takes month of planning and with the intervention of Ryan and Sam and his "never give up" will power, he is able to be everything Hannah is looking for, even though she had no idea what that was.
The companion novel to this is Playing For Keeps and some of the romancing with Jake and Hannah does happen in the first novel, this being book 2. It can be a stand alone, but I suggest that you will get more out of both by reading them in the order of timeline with Playing For Keeps being first.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Short, Sweet & Sexy Novella! 13 July 2012
By NReads - Published on Amazon.com

Going For It by Liz Matis was an entertaining read & it did not disappoint! Jake, a pro football player, & Hannah, a Victoria's Secret model, once had a brief, yet hot fling that ended too soon. After seven months apart, they are reunited at their friends' wedding. From there, the flames gets rekindled & these two spend more time together in & out of the bedroom. However, Hannah has a past that doesn't let her trust or love easily. And Jake is determined to break down her walls as well as make her see herself as the beautiful woman that she is.

Going For It was such an enjoyable read I didn't want it to end. It had all the ingredients in making a great story: in-depth characters, a well-developed plot & storyline, and good pacing of the story. Although short, the story didn't feel rushed or incomplete. Instead, it felt...just right. Overall, Going For It was a light, sexy, and sweet contemporary romance that I highly enjoyed reading. Highly recommend this story for anyone seeking out a satisfying read that will leave you with a smile :)
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 22 May 2016

I loved this second book in the Fantasy football series, we get to know more about the team when Samantha's roommate Hannah that was a secondary character in the first book finds love with Jake, another player for the New York Cougars. Hannah I'd a fashion model and doesn't think she can maintain a relationship, but Jake is determined to break down her barriers, plus Samantha and Ryan are sick of them moping around when they are not together. Hot sex, real page turner. On to the next football player.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet 5 July 2012

Not usually a fan of short stories, they never seem to have enough time to develop the characters, but this one worked for me because I knew the characters from the first book, Playing For Keeps. Jake is a big hunk of a guy who is sweet as can be and Hannah is just a bit of an emotionally damaged supermodel. They both have commitment issues that they work to overcome. The book was short, sweet and enjoyable.
