5.0 out of 5 stars Wow -- Dense as it comes -- Good, but perhaps not the students first choice. 25 Feb. 2006
By Bob - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Bortoft goes right at it. This gem is only 85 pages long, but if you don't have a strong background in the subject it takes a while to work through. Take the time to really understand the material, however, and you get a least a glimpse of what Goethe's scientific method was all about -- that, I think, makes it worth all the hard work.

I'd read Goethe's Way of Science -- A phenomenology of Nature, and some of Goethe's science writing before getting to Bortoft's GSC. I don't think I would have managed to come away with much had I not read the others first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great material, BUT DON'T BUY THIS VERSION! 4 April 2009
By R. Masterson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is outstanding, but reprinted IN FULL in Henri Bortoft's "The Wholeness of Nature," along with additional material by Bortoft. I repeat, don't buy this book; buy "The Wholeness of Nature" and you'll get literally all of the material in "Goethe's Scientific Consciousness" and more.
