Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sally Hawkins star in this science fiction reimagining of the 1954 Japanese film about the destruction caused by a giant monster. When a devastating event is covered up as a natural disaster, nuclear physicist Joe Brody (Cranston) realises something much more sinister is to blame. Scientists Dr. Ichiro Serizawa (Watanabe) and Dr. Vivienne Graham (Hawkins) reveal that in 1954 a powerful monster was awakened and though 'nuclear tests' were carried out in the Pacific Ocean to destroy it, the creature has now returned. With the US Armed Forces, including Joe's son Navy Lieutenant Ford Brody (Taylor-Johnson), called into action, humanity fights for its survival. The cast also includes Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn.
This spectacular adventure pits Godzilla, the world’s most famous monster, against malevolent creatures that, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Cette aventure spectaculaire oppose Godzilla, le monstre le plus célèbre du monde, à des créatures malveillantes qui, ressuscitées par l’arrogance scientifique de l’humain, menacent notre survie.

Humanity is attacked by a giant monster that feeds on radiation. The only thing that can save mankind (as humans basically make everything worse in any attempt to fight back) is Godzilla! Another monster!
Watch a cast of Hollywood's whitest and greatest (with a few token minorities thrown in for good measure!) run around like headless chickens as monster battles monster.
Oh. Yeah, and San Francisco is pretty much buggered!
A brilliant re-imagining of the monster classic!
So the good points. Well the effects are spot on, no worries there. The action scenes when they come around are actually interesting. They capture the scale of the monsters quite well. But the pinnacle has got to be the Godzilla roar. It's what really makes the movie worth watching/listening to (plus the action towards the end). The rest is just a little bit too mundane. Should've gone simpler, or tried to get more of Godzilla in the film somehow, or just cut the unnecessary diversions that the director clearly felt they needed to justify the action sequences, when all they did was distract and draw the whole thing out.
His shear size caused tsunamis and destroys everything, imagine walking through a lego village and trying not to step on the lego figures, or when you step in the lego sea watch how far the water goes. This is not a monster to celebrate in any way, he moves people die, I think the people would be purely scared and no cheering for Godzilla the great destroyer.
But otherwise really liked the nuclear sucking up for food story line, shame Branston died so soon i thought he was going to be a major character :( but good film :)
Once you do, this film seems incredibly plausible. Superbly well scripted and put together for the genre.
