The Liverpool formed indie-rock band The Wombats are three talented young men who I've been listening to since the start of their hit making career, and it's always a joy to hear new material from them.

'Glitterbug: B sides' is a four track EP which, although able to download on most of the usual sources, was only available to buy as a physical CD in HMV music stores.

The mother album Glitterbug is a typically upbeat record filled with catchy pop/rock songs that will have you hooked from the first listen. This EP, housed in a slim cardboard slipcase contains four songs which don't appear on that release.

The opening track 'Right Click Save' is a stomping, edgy rocker, with a melody that I can't get out my head. '21st Century Blues' is another a catchy song with cool lyrics, and 'Wired Differently' is also good, though inferior to the rest. The final track is the Bastille remix of 'Greek Tragedy, one of the album's highlights, and the production here is much slower and laid back, which manages to turn into a completely different song.

If you like The Wombats, then 'Glitterbug: B Sides' is a nice little collectable that's well worth having in it's psychical form if you're a collector.

I really like it! I loved their first album, The Modern Glitch was pretty good too and this is also a cracker! It is a tad different but it's still 100% Wombats. Cracking tunes, cracking melodies. What's not to like! I now have 3 Wombats albums. I guess this makes me officially a fan lol!

'Glitterbug' is pretty much everything that we've all come to expect from Liverpool's indie-rockers The Wombats. Their third album, ideal listening in the Summer, is a strong collection of catchy pop/rock songs that will have you hooked from the first listen, with singer Matthew Murphy's vocals as appealing as ever. It tends to lean more towards the electronic sound of 'The Modern Glitch' second album, with that glorious, energetic sound reminiscent of 1980s pop music, which so many big modern day artists including The Vaccines and Brandon Flowers are currently having success with.

The exciting and addictive singles 'Give Me a Try', 'Greek Tragedy' and 'Be Your Shadow' are all excellent, but I can't say that there is a black sheep in the other tracks, sure, some are more memorable than others, but there isn't anything that I'd deliberately skip past. The Bastille-isque 'Isobel' is a painfully poignant and deep song, which provides a break from the up-tempo mood, and the quite amazing 'Emoticons' is particularly noteworthy as well. Like I said, 'Glitterbug' is another hit for the Summer!

These four young men have come a long way from 'Back Fired at the Disco' and 'Let's Dance to Joy Division' (as much as I loved these early hits, and still do), the lyrics are deeper and more thoughtful, the songs are more mature now, and I look forward to hear what they deliver up next.

Amazing, everything the album lived up to be. Just as good as Modern glitch and love loss and desperation. Obsessed.

I liked A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, really liked This Modern Glitch, but this one is my favourite yet. It came out just in time for some sunny weather and will feature highly in my summer playlist.
