My first highly rated whisky I did not like and I feel like a whisky novice. This was my first Glenfarclas and brought on special offer. I was very exicted by my first try but I am left very disappointed. More in my inability to enjoy this than the quality of the product. There is underlying overpowering tarry sulphur like nose and taste I just cannot get on with

I know Glenfarclas put a huge amount of passion , work and heart into their Whisky, and are independent. I urge you to try their whisky despite this review. It's just not to my liking but that is my loss .

Edit march 2016: what a difference a few months breathing time makes . Left it came back and finally discovered it. Really nice now , fruity and rich very smooth. Let it breath and get some O2 to it. The sulphur note will vanish

Having had some very tasty sherried whisky last year, I was really looking forward to this having had it on a Lightning Deal.
First glass was OK - a touch of the expected sherry and Christmas Cake flavours.
But definitely not the "Best Whisky Under £50" I'd been expecting - there was an odd taste in there I couldn't identify.
By Day 2 the Odd Taste had taken over, and couldn't be missed - it was sulphur.
The whisky's defining aroma and taste were sulphur.
Now, I quite like a little sulphur - a box of matches, the volcano at Nisyros.
But I don't want my whisky to taste of it.
I emailed Glenfarclas to ask about this, but received no reply. A mailed again, again silence.
A little e-research shows that Glenfarclas have a major problem with suplhur.
I rang Amazon to say it wasn't right, and wanted to return it for either refund or credit note.
The couldn't have been nicer about it - they emailed a Freepost cover and I sent it back.
Money refunded the next day.
So.
Avoid Glenfarclas, but keep buying your whisky from Amazon as they offer a service better than most.

A really nice drop and in my opinion pound for pound better than their 25 year old, which is better, but obviously much more expensive too.

Bought as a lightening deal and I expected good things. Upon opening I was quite disappointed, the overwhelming flavour and smell being one that smelled of Sulphur. I would not buy this again.
