I wrote 'Thyroid Cancer For Beginners' as a form of therapy during my four year journey through diagnosis and treatment for papillary thyroid cancer in 2004/5. When it was published I started on its sequel 'Living With Thyroid Cancer', which updates the reader with procedures I had to undergo as a consequence of the treatment I underwent 12 years ago. After seven years in remission I had another 2 recurrences in October 2014 and January 2017, and in November 2014 I took early retirement from my job as a medical secretary to recover from treatment and begin a new career as an author. However, as of August 2017 I have now returned to the workplace as a part-time secretary to cover for holidays and sickness, in-between enjoying spending time at my new holiday home on the Isle of Wight.
I am married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren, and am enjoying both my careers as a medical secretary and a women's fiction writer (using a pseudonym as I prefer the anonymity of it) and so far have written 8 novels, 4 novellas, and 18 short stories, which to my delight are selling better than I ever thought they would! I have written a third book, 'Relapse', under my own name, which carries on from 'Living With Thyroid Cancer'.
