Amy Dickson's virtuosity is shown to its full in this recording. Her interpretation of the pieces originally for a stringed instrument is quite literally breathtaking.

I have the Glass violin concerto and although the violin is probably my favourite instrument to listen to I never play the CD preferring the Sibelius or something else....however Amy Dickson's arrangement and playing make this challenging work much more compelling to listen to. Additionally her circular breathing technique is silent and provides the seamless flow that works so well for the Glass especially.

This is a wonderful CD especially so if you have ambitions to play the Soprano Saxophone...though I for one will never play that well and of course have no chance to look as svelte as Amy does. You could argue all sorts of things but really this just demonstrates that there is not enough classical music written initially for the Saxophone, more because it was a late comer to the ball rather than there is anything else to be said (the modern orchestral make up had been set in stone before Adolph Sax finished getting the instruments payable and consistent). Whilst composers are writing works for Amy there needs to be more for the instrument to get it into the classical main stream where there is no doubt it is an excellent soloist and not just the soprano....Paul Whiteman/George Gershwin where are your latter day protagonists?

Check out extracts on Amy's web site then buy! You know you will......Ross Edwards Moon Dances for Saxophone & orchestra will hopefully be recorded soon! That will be another must have!

Love this cd, particularly the Glass concerto. Wonderful playing from a very committed sax player at the very top of her profession.

If you are looking for some lively, beautiful and cheery classical music, but without going back to the classics you always listen to, give a try to Amy Dickson. She is, plain and simply, fantastic.

Classical music performed with class and individual style, a wonderful performance of saxophone playing by this Australian musician accompanied by the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra.

Having these pieces played on the saxaphone suits them very well. This CD has been almost constantly played while I am driving, very good background music for the 'film' of my life on the move.
