Review

"Honest and touching. Caro Feely gives us the real thing, not only living the dream of making great wine in France but the stress and work required while raising a family and holding a marriage together. And at the same time, she has produced a readable, persuasive and informative book on organic wine-making, and why we need to heal our soil and change the way we farm." --Martin Walker, author, the Bruno Chief of Police Series

Caro draws the reader into her world with its all of its challenges, triumphs and heartaches. Required reading for winelovers everywhere.'

I've read all of Caro's books and they are light and easy reads. I think the Feely family are great stewards of the earth and should be an example to us all. It was the first book, Grape Expectations, that whet my appetite about organic food and since then I have read us much as I can on this important but misunderstood topic. THanks to Caro, I have become passionate about this subject too. I find the factual bits about biodynamics, health, wellness, the environment etc to be the best parts of her books so I hope the next one will be a narrative non-fiction book about the ins and outs of organic vs chemical farming, climate change, food and wellness, environmental legislation etc. I think Caro has the perfect writing style and the credibility as a farmer to tie all these interesting, vital topics together to educate a mainstream audience. A book like that can go viral because people are petrified of cancer and illness and unsure of the links to chemical farming. I hope Caro will write a book like this (I have in mind something similar to Pamela Druckermans parenting book) as she has so much wisdom on a timely topic.

This was an intimate and passionate book about the joys and stresses of expanding a small business while remaining true to the principles of organic and biodynamic wine producing. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written account of life in a beautifully described countryside. Caro continues to hold onto her dream of respecting the land in which she and her family have set down roots as deep into the soil as her vines have done.
Even if you are not as concerned about organic farming as Caro is, initially, her account of its importance to our welfare will have you convinced by the last chapter. Go to Chateau Feely, taste the wine there, survey the landscape, and you will be doubly convinced!

I love these books by Caro Feely, and she has really helped me appreciate the importance of organic and biodynamic farming (& of course viticulture). As a part-time resident in my beloved France, I've always known about "gardening by the moon" (I even know of neighbours who plan their haircut appointments by the moon phases!), but now through Caro's books I understand how it works and makes sense.
Her books are charming and honest accounts of the struggles of life running a vineyard, especially in this book, as she tries to manage her emotions as she approaches menopause - very recognisable! Thoroughly recommended for any Francophiles or oenophiles! I plan to make it down to the Feely estates to do some serious buying & tasting!

We have read all three instalments of Caro and Sean's journey of wine, love and life in France.

Caro conveys brilliantly what it must be like to be a seemingly lone voice in an industry that needs to more fully embrace organic food policies and biodiversity. She does this in an informative style without preaching.

This is the most moving episode in Sean and Caro's journey - some laugh out loud moments and some genuine tear-jerking times, captured brilliantly.

Caro has an engaging, reflective and at times brutally self critical style - seemingly oppressed by French labour laws and local bureaucracy.

Will her true love for home, family and wine shine through whilst she comes to terms with her own inner hormonal demons?

Does love finally shine through?....

You'd better read the book!

I first stumbled across Caro's first wonderful book, Grape Expectations, at one of our favourite organic vineyards, Chateau Fonplegarde. This is the 3rd book by Caro Feely and I've devoured all three. A wonderful, honest account not just of running a vineyard but starting and running a business. Her fortitude and 'can do' attitude shine throughout the book. I also love how Caro educates on the importance of organic farming, like explaining about the all important and fascinating mycorrhizae in the soil, and debunking the myth that one must use pesticides to farm - all in an upbeat, lighthearted manner. If you love wine, organic farming and a light hearted, fun read this book is not to be missed!

Yet again Caro drew me into her family's world and I felt every high and low she went through. She's really made me think about what I eat and whilst I'm never going to be as amazing as they are I have made some little changes (organic eggs and milk) and really hope to visit Chateau Feely in the future to learn more about thier organic wines. I'm hoping you write no. 4 Caro as I want to know what happens next!

I loved reading this book today. I am a great fan of Caro's writing, and was so pleased to see that she published a new book today. I would really recommend this book to everyone. My only problem is that I sat down and read this book in one sitting, so now I have to wait until Caro's publishes her next book.
