Sarah Jane Butfield and her husband are truly inspirational, what they have endured and survived is incredible. Her book "Glass Half Full tells the adventure of their emigration to Oz, in full techni-colour, warts-and-all detail, I defy anyone not to be touched by this eloquent memoir.

This is a great story, what could go wrong, did go wrong. I know the feeling. This family has lots of adventures, and after each disaster, with great courage, they get up, dust themselves down and get on with it. I believe that Nigel is the rock which holds this family together. I was puzzled as to why they decided to go to Australia in the first place if the family ties were so strong and they were going to be so unhappy being apart. I struggled with the style of writing, it did not flow all that well and there were many typing errors, wrong words. This is a shame, as it is very easy to correct a manuscript and upload it again into the store. If you had Sarah, you would have got an extra star. I think the cover is great!

Glass Half Full: Our Australian adventure is the account of a powerful and optimistic woman, who is always able to pick herself up after hardship and misadventure, and try again. The writing is such that I felt I was there with Sarah and her family in their move to Australia. I felt caught up in the atmosphere and learnt a lot about the country and Sarah herself. Well done! I'm keen to read what happened next and eagerly await Sarah's account of her adventures in France.

I have read many books on Australian life but this is the worst, by a long way. I cannot believe that someone can write such a book when they never really settled in Australia. They moved around separately, the husband appeared to be rather "fragile" to say the least and could not decide if he wanted to be a taxi driver, prison officer or a night club door attendant. He stayed at each job so short a time that he still must be unsure! There was so much problems both at home in England and Australia due to marriage breakdowns and ill health that I had to read the book in stages to stop me becoming depressed. They then moved to Tasmania where they decided that France was the place for them! Make sure you are well rested before you read this book, and have a World Atlas at hand so that if you turn the page and discover yourself lost, you can refer to it.
What a literary disappointment. Save your money, buy a fictional adventure book, it will be more exciting!

I enjoyed this 'no holds barred' account of one families experiences of searching for a better life in Australia. It is good to read that it isn't all Bondi and BBQ's when people decide to emigrate. The writer gave an excellent account of the way in which life has a habit of throwing in a 'googly' when it is least expected. All in all a very readable book - and interesting too.
