Without a doubt this is the best book Malcolm has written to date.
Compelling and descriptive stories about various different crimes in Glasgow in years gone by.
Although from Edinburgh myself I can totally relate to and picture the crimes happening in and around Glasgow's murky tenements and surrounds, through Malcolm's writing style.
Buy this book - you won't be disappointed!

I happen to like Glasgow as a place to visit. I know of its reputation but I always find it friendly and bustling. This book opens up the history of crime in all its depth and interest. The poisoning stories were fascinating, the riots were scary but I was most impressed with the jewel thefts. I had not thought that Glasgow would be a magnet for international thieves, but why not? It must have been a very prosperous place when it was the Second City of the Empire! I can look around the streets with fresh eyes next time I visit! What a brilliant book that was.

This book contains lots of factual information but lacks depth. You some times feel that stories repeat themselves as they are often similar. Overall a good read about Glasgow as it was.

Great read and very interesting and also amusing what some people get up to in crime. Also SAD in some cases what people had to do to survive. Well written
