I will say that it looks far better on than off as clothes often do.
It is a thin jersey type material.
In terms of fit the larger majority say it fits as expected and in my case this has been true as I erred on the side of caution and bought a smaller size in the navy version.
Whilst it does fit I bought this colour in my usual size and I feel better in it.
What I have noticed which is interesting is this dress has a medium label in it and the navy one that I have returned has a name label in it and no sizing so I guess they are sourced from different manufacturers. If this is the case it would explain the varying size comments.
I am around 5ft 5inches and I found that the dress is above my knee.
It is one of those dresses that you put on and feel so comfortable in but at the same time you can add accessories and look really dressed up in it.
Equally you can wear it for every day use or the office and still feel appropriate as it is a really versatile dress.
It is figure hugging and flattering at the top with a banding just under the bust line which leads into a lovely flowing skirt.
I will definitely be buying more in other colours and adding them to my wardrobe.
Brilliant value for money in my opinion
The material is nice and stretchy and forgiving of a big bust and a few lumps and bumps.
The crossover of the front of the dress is generously cut so as to not leave you feeling exposed and on show. Under the bust the dress flares nicely so it hides all of the bits that I want to hide. I feel nice and feminine wearing this dress and, for the price, they are a bargain.
The Blue Grey colour is more blue than grey and I would describe it as a blue slate colour and is perfect with the pale pink fluffy cardigan that I ordered from elsewhere to go with it. It also looks good with a long sleeve t-shirt top underneath and I have ordered some burgundy coloured tights to go under it for winter wear so it is truly an all season dress. It can be dressed up for going out or it can be an everyday dress.
For the price I am very pleased with the quality of the dress however if I had payed more I might have been a little less happy. As a dressmaker and tailors daughter I was always taught that the underside should be as neat as the right side of a garment. The underside could have been a little neater but again for the price its what I would expect and it isn't a worry at all. The rest of the dress however meets Mum and my exact standards so thank you!
Thought of a way to lengthen the distance between the shoulders & top of the empire line by taking spare material from the ruched band. However the side seam from the underarm to the top of the empire line is 2.1/2" at one side and 3.1/2" at the other side - an inch difference. So this makes my proposed alteration impossible as I'd need every inch to count.
I cannot understand why the manufacturers don't have a fairly standard length of at least 4" from the underarm to the empire top.
In retrospect, it probably wouldn't matter if the dress appears to fit and looks o.k. Now hoping it will fit a shorter person, if I can find one. I'm 5ft 1.1/2.
Shan't buy from this manufacturer again.
Arrived in good time packaging fine.
This dress would be really nice if only I'd got a larger size. Wouild look good on and material is nice/acceptable
I'm opposite to a pear-shape (Close to 16 uk for a top, and 10/12 uk for skirts/tousers) so I rarely buy dresses because a larger size comes with wide sleeves, a big waist and baggy hips, i.e from the waist down, they drown me.
But as this dress is stretchy I hoped I could fit in it. Unfortunatly the empire line cuts into the bust instead of sitting beneath it, very uncomfortable. I've considered trying to lengthen the top, but there's no spare material... disappointed.
