The highest praise I can give this book is to say that halfway through this story, the first of 4 about the Chase Brothers, I logged back onto Amazon and bought the other three. That's how much I was enjoying it.

This has a great plot, all the relationships, both romantic and family, are believable and although there are elements of violence, I did not find this overpowering and it added to the tension of the plot well. At the end of the day, this was a heartwarming romance without being overly slushy and I would recommend it to anyone who likes reading romance with a bit of an edge to it.

I intend looking out for other titles by this author. She's a very talented writer.

I absolutely enjoyed this book and have subsequently bought the rest of the series.

Book one is Maggie and Kyle's story. Maggie is a history teacher and dresses like one too, much to her friend's disappointment. She just doesn't have the confidence to dress sexy, because after years of her mother comparing her to her older pageant winning sister she knows she isn't beautiful at all. First off Shane Chase bumps into her and spills food all down her, she tells him off and he seems to admire that, and they even go out on some dates. However Shane's ex did a number on him and he is soon out the picture leaving his younger brother Kyle to step in his place and claim the woman that he only stepped back from because his brother wanted her first. An ex of Maggie's gives her a lot of trouble and Kyle vows to make Maggie his and show her she's worthy of all the love he has to give, will she accept it though?

The Chase brother's, wow i wouldn't mind visiting the little town where they are!! Kyle is a little of a ladies man at first and after Shane i would have been a little dubious about dating another Chase! However when they are as hot as this lot with a Momma who takes no rubbish from her strapping lads and kicks their butts when they need it, the family as a whole is very seductive. My advice? Buy, buy, buy :)

It appears I'm in the minority in disliking this book, but we've all read this kind of romance before, haven't we? Small town setting, impossibly hunky men and a heroine who has no self confidence in herself yet is pretty underneath it all and manages to bag herself one of four hunky brothers who are described as the prime specimens of manhood. Tall, muscular and impossibly good looking... need I go on?

Sigh. I wasn't expecting anything utterly brilliant or anything, but I did want a nice, sexy romance to curl up with after reading some heavier books recently and this plot sounded charming enough. Instead what I got was a completely predictable Mills and Boon-esque story that was riddled with clichés, poor sex scenes and some of the most arrogant men I have ever read about. The Chase brothers really do think they're god's gift to women and about a quarter of the way into this book they were making me feel a bit stabby.

The book revolves around history teacher Maggie- a bit of a plain Jane who after bumping into hunky town Sherrif Shane Chase ends up on a date with him. After Shane makes it quite clear he's only looking for a fling though, she ends up dating his more dependable younger brother Kyle instead who seems to be completely drawn to her after she has a makeover. Throw a nutter stalker into the mix and small town trials and tribulations and you have yourself a romance.

I do have to say that some bits of the plot worked well enough, despite how dismissive I sound overall- Kyle is certainly a protector and he did sound yummy, as did all of the perfect Chase brothers- all with good jobs and good looks (another cliché). It's just a shame that he constantly talked about the other women he had slept with and dated but how Maggie was the most special.

This is book one of four books by Lauren Dane about the Chase Brothers - Kyle, Shane, Marc and Matt. Book one is about Maggie & Kyle. Maggie has been belittled all her life by her mother and her elder sister and has always been told her sister is the pretty one. Maggie is a teacher but a bit frumpy. Her friend Liv gives her a mini makeover after her split with her latest boyfriend and she sets her sights on Shane Chase. However, Shane has been hurt in the past by his ex fiance and is now a love em and leave 'em type. He dates Maggie a few times but something she says scares him off. Waiting in the wings is Kyle who is attracted to Maggie. It takes a while to convince Maggie how attractive she is and things are not helped by her evil Mother and Sister. Maggie also has a stalker in the form of Alex who she dated once or twice. Kyle and Maggie are sweet characters and this is a good start to the series - Shane' story is next (Taking Chase). Would recommend this book.

Maggie Wright has lived in the town Petal all her life, she is a teacher at the school, she is a caring and thoughtful girl, who cares about her job, and her two best friends Liv and Dee. The Chase brothers are the best looking guys in town, way out of Maggies league or so she thinks. Maggie's sister Janie is tall and beautiful as is their mother, Maggie was always made to feel the ugly duckling in the family, Shane Chase the local sheriff takes Maggie on a couple of dates, but he has been betrayed very recently by his ex fiancee and does not do exclusivity with women any more, and in-between dating Maggie he is dating other women, Shane's brother Kyle also has his eye on Maggie so when Shane messes up with her he is quick to step in. This is a very romantic story, with a full cast of great supporting characters, the story was excellent and keeps the reader engrossed. There is a threat to Maggie in the story, which is very well depicted.Maggie and Kyle's growing relationship is wonderful to read Maggie finds it hard to believe that one of the fabulous Chase brothers is interested in her and for Kyle's part he is kind caring and very sexy. Such a wonderful story that I can heartily recommend to everyone! Can't wait to read the second book in this series!
