Product Description

Product Description

P.I. is a pure deduction game, with players competing in three consecutive mini-games in order to see who's got the best chops in terms of solving their cases. Each mini-game plays out the same way. To start, you receive in secret one suspect card (out of 12), one crime card (out of 10), and one location card (out of 14); this set of information represents the case that the player to your left must solve. The game board shows fourteen locations arranged so that each location touches a few others; each location has space for a suspect and crime tile. Shuffle the suspect tiles (12, plus two "no suspect") and the crime tiles (10, plus four "no crime"), then place one face up in each location. Each suspect, crime and location is included in a deck of evidence cards, and nine evidence cards are revealed. When you choose an evidence card, the player to your right places a disc on the matching tile if the card matches one of the case cards he holds, places a cube on the matching tile if this tile is adjacent to a tile matching one of the case cards he holds, or places nothing if you've made a wild-eyed guess and the tile isn't adjacent to anything. To attempt to solve the case, you place a black token on your guesses. If wrong, you're penalized two points and continue play next turn. If right, you receive 7, 5, 3 or 1 points depending on how many others have solved their cases in earlier rounds. The mini-game ends once everyone has solved their case or only one case remains unsolved. All used investigators are removed from play, then the board and cards are reset for the next mini-case. Each player has only five investigators total, so use them wisely! Whoever has the most points after three mini-cases wins.

Ok don't normally review after 1 play, but its a simple game, and it just came across with such ease, i took an instant liking to it, now I see it as a good gateway game, for non-gamers, ideal for a family of adults after a dinner,

It's a simple deduction puzzle, your trying to solve a crime of the person on your right, yoru not all trying to solve 1 case, it works a little like those logic puzzle you find in holiday book, you need to determine location, Person and crime, you are limited by chooseing what to investigate from a spread of card and when you pick one the player to your right says if its right, close by, or not even close,
and after several rounds like this from the board layout you can whittle down suspects and locations and crimes, , the 1st person to get his crime right score the most points, if you make a wrong prediction you lose points and have to try again, once everyone has correctly solved the 1st crime you reset the board and do it another 2 times, and the highest score is the winner, there a few more bits to it, but that's a brief overview,
I was never one for Cluedo, and I though this would be to much for me! so i was suitably surprised!

HASH(0x9e6551bc) out of 5 stars Fun, challenging game 26 Mar. 2013

I think P.I. is a pretty darned good game. I would suggest it for 12+ to adults - my game group of adults liked it a lot.

This isn't an easy game - it's definitely a step up from Clue. It uses an interesting game mechanism, so that everyone is trying to find out a different mystery (at the same time)

I suggest that you do what I did and make some laminated helper sheets that show all the board spaces. It's kind of difficult playing the game when the board is upside-down to where you are sitting, but a helper sheet will alleviate that problem. There are some on boardgamegeek that you can print out and laminate.

I hope that you enjoy it!!
HASH(0x9e6553e4) out of 5 stars Clue Meets Sudoku 25 Jun. 2015

A little like a mix of Clue and Sudoku, P.I. is a fun game to play every once in a while but doesn't seem to have the variation for repeat play that a lot of other games seem to have. Things fell into a pretty repeatable chain of events after a couple play throughs and it was like each person was in their own game, just racing to place their first marker. After that, it was pretty much by the books. A bit difficult in the beginning to figure out what was going on, but once the basics were down, the game is pretty fun to play. While it's not an all night type game, it is still a unique approach to the detective genre and worth checking out if you want to add a little variety to your game nights.
HASH(0x9e655648) out of 5 stars Great game for logical thinkers 14 Mar. 2015

This game is fun and it challenges players to think logically as in "if - then". It is much like CLUE but some of the random luck incurred while rolling the dice is removed. Other than that the game is very similar: players are challenged to determine the WHO, the WHERE and the WHAT of another players randomly assigned cards while another player is determining your cards.

The game itself is great- the adult version of "Clue." I was introduced to it by a friend. However when I ordered the game for myself not all of the pieces were included- such a disappointment!

This game is like Clue but much more complicated. Can't wait to play again and start to develop my strategy.
