Mmmm mmm! I do like me a bit of the Aussie badass brigade. This lady is the nuts at writing sexy badass men!

This is the second book in the 'Give Me' series. The series follows new, upcoming rock band, Jamieson, crime fighting ‘badass brigade’ Jamieson and Valentine, their friends, families and the crazy, mind-blogging sagas, baddies, shootings, kidnaps and general madness that comes with them!
In the first book, 'Give Me Love', we met Jamieson vocalist and front woman, Evie, and the swoonworthy Jared Valentine!
'Give Me Strength' gives us Travis Valentine, Jared’s sexy, long haired older brother, and Quinn Salisbury. Quinn has just landed the job working for Jamieson. She is assitant to Mac, Jamieson’s manager and the youngest and only female Valentine.
A chance meeting with Travis in a bar, on the first night out Quinn has had in three years, turns out to be much steamier than she’d ever imagined it would be. When she sneaks out before Travis wakes, she doesn’t expect to see him again. Until she realises he is the older brother of her new employer. Insert awkward moment here!
But Quinn has secrets in her past that have left her incapable of giving or receiving love. It’s as much as she can do to get through each day without social faux pas, panic attacks and mental break downs, so holding down a relationship is a definite no-no!

“I’m really sorry,” I whispered. “I can’t do this.”
“Can’t do what?”
“Life,” I muttered under my breath. “It wasn’t meant for me.”

But Travis isn’t so easily swayed. And as he shows that he is determined not to let Quinn go so readily, her past catches up with her, just to complicate things further.

Wow this story just blew me away! I do love the Valentine brothers and Jamieson the band, and Quinn man… What a story there! It was nice to have a bit more insight in the type of work Jared and Casey do for the ‘consultancy bureau’. It must be indeed a very tough job and you can’t do to many cases without going off the track! In this book, before I elaborate on Jared and Quinn, Casey is in it as well and his story made me quite curious to his book (Give me Grace). I want to know his story, especially after he connected with Quinn on a whole different level.

Back to Jared and Quinn, I love a strong Alpha Male in the story like Jared but also a strong female character who knows what to do with a chair! Thanks to Quinn’s stepdad the Italian maffia is after Quinn and at first she wants to solve her own problems by doing what she’s always done, run away and start over. But this time it is Jared holding her back. Jared who showed her that there is something worth fighting in life for. Quinn had an awful, awful past, I even shed a few tears for her. But thanks to Jared and her own dose of willpower and strength she is able to overcome this and finally in many years – to move on. What a night in a bar can do to a girl! ^_^

This book was once again full of Romance, Comedy, and angsty moments especially for Quinn, I wanted to punch that stepdad of hers baaaaaadly! I can highly recommend this series by Kate McCarthy. As she writes a mean Epilogue too! And what is better, the books so far timeline wise and epilogue wise are all tied in together. You might be able to read every book as a standalone but the story will be better understood if you start from book one, Give me Love.

Book 2 of 4. Lots of characters which makes for a very good story with lots of twists and turns. Not to mention plots. The story went along at a quick pace through out, packing so much in. Loved the banter between all the characters. Although set in Australia and written by an Australian, theres not too much Australian speak, (like B-e-q was used instead of Barbie), but that didn't distract at all. Quite a dramatic start to this storyline, so stick with it..... sad in places, but like all romance storylines, all comes well at the end, even though to get there takes a lot of work..... A really good read. Best to read the novels in order though to get the flow going and keeping there. bk 1. Give Me Love. 2. Give Me Strength. 3. Give Me Grace and bk 4 is due out in 2014 Give Me Hell. I am sure you will enjoy this read and the whole mini series, as much as I have.

Love Give Me Strength, as with the first book of the Give Me series, I read almost through the night until my eyelids broke the metaphorical toothpicks holding them open! I really cannot recommend this book enough and you really should read this series because I have a feeling book 3 is going to be a scorcher with the delectable Casey :)

I didn't think a second book could be as strong as the first but I enjoyed this one more, probably because there was more emotion and maybe because the foundations had been laid in Give Me Love I was itching to see what all the supporting characters were up to. The character interactions are so natural and also often hysterical and you will most likely find yourself laughing out loud as I was.

I never go into the story in a review, that's what the blurb is for and I don't want to give anything away except my opinion - bottom line, buy it (but read Give Me Love first if you haven't already), you won't be sorry :D
