Give Me Hell is a massive read and well worth the wait and as we are treated to the brilliant story that is Mackenzie Valentine and Jake Romero, you can't help reminisce because all the memories and triggers are there reminding us what we've been through with this whole (Give Me Series).
It's a brilliant prologue and one that has you completely hooked and desperate for answers but as we go back to the beginning and learn how Mac and Jake met.. where it all started.. we know it's going to be a painful wait until we are all caught up on that all important prologue.
I loved Mac's character, her punchy take no prisoners attitude and the constant plotting to take down her brothers, it was a constant back and forth with them, she hated being treated differently but always was because she was their baby sister, she did everything in her power to sabotage that.
Mac's life is full of love and support, surrounded by a beautiful fun family something Jake doesn't have, he could only wish, he's on his own now, Jake's life is pretty unpredictable and it makes you feel really sad it doesn't help when Mac gives him her typical attitude if only she knew how lonely he is. The emotional vibe that surrounds Jake continues on throughout as he try's to survive and do the right thing whether it be good or bad it's always for the right reason.
Mac and Jake's paths continue to cross, Mac constantly finds her self in trouble she becomes her own badass brigade add to that the brilliant sense of humour and the witty banter and it really is something else however aside from all the fun and games there are worrying times ahead.
There are so many parts in this story that build to a real climax, you expect it towards the end of a story but oh no not with Give Me Hell. We are treated to plenty of moments throughout that have you completely on the edge some more than others. Chapter 20 and only 46% was one of those moments and a pretty massive one too as Mac eavesdropes on the conversation that takes place between Jake and her brothers. The accident.. the baby, I have to admit I was waiting for this moment, I couldn't wait for Jake to know and for MAC to realise Jake didn't know.
Mac and Jake's relationship become a real battle to survive, they'd take 2 steps forward then 3 steps back add to that the loss of a baby that hadn't been dealt with properly especially Jake, he wasn't given the chance and the element of danger that hung in the balance and then all the drama that was just Mac and Jake.!
As the storyline continues you can only hope that Mac and Jake will get their second chance, you can almost taste it but there's more drama to come. Mac through her own choices finds herself in the crossfire of a pretty dangerous situation and one that ends with a mixture of emotions.
I'm thinking of Mitch.. will there be any more stories in this series?
There are some very touching moments that really pull on your heartstrings, one of them being Jakes dad and when Jake realised Mac had been visiting and reading to him along it was a beautiful moment.!
Finally... Finally we get what we have been waiting for and through it all Mac is still on form..!!
I've loved everything from this author and look forward to what ever comes next!
Thank you Kate McCarthy
This book was soooo worth the wait!!
I absolutely loved Mac and Jake’s story. We get to learn it all from the moment they met to the shock at the end of Give Me Grace and more.
Mac and Jake have always belonged to each other, but they have had trouble at their doors pretty much since they met when Mac was 11.
Jake had to battle money issues and the consequences of how he decided to get the money, people trying to kill him, Mac’s brothers but mostly not feeling he deserved Mac.
Mac has always been a badass, she can take care of herself if only her 3 brothers remembered this and stopped trying to dictate her life.
They both have a lot to get through before they meet again, but can they forget the past and move on together?
