This is a double CD, first of which is mixed by Lisa Lashes. Lisa delivers exactly would you would expect - namely, a full-on assualt of hard, hard house that doesn't let up until the very end - and then you just want to move faster than a dog on heat!! Lisa pulls out the more classical hard house tunes which have undergone a dramatic remix - tunes such as Love Revoulutions "Give it to me baby" and Euflex's "Feel it". A fantastic first CD which will make you collapse to your knees.
The second CD is mixed by the overwelming Anne Savage - who in this case - steals the show. The Cd builds from a happy bounce of JFK's "Good god", to the aural stomp that is Chris C's "Freefall" and beyond.
After the glut of rubbish on offer recently, it is great to see a return to a real club-orientated hard house album!
First CD, mixed by no other than the hard house femme numero uno Lisa Lashes, uncorks a brain bashing mix of uncompromisingly raw, straight up, reality distorting hard house, that is ready to jump out and get you through the speakers. Starting out with the rave-worthy Mark Kavanagh's Is Everybody ready, the mix churns out a frenzy of rough beats and familiar floor rocking bass lines. Ewok's Go Back (Trauma Mix) is the track that did it for me, with its smooth sub dermal undergroove and a wicked vocal hook. However there is plenty more in store with club classics such as What Ya Lookin' At? by The Crow and Ian M's Body Burning. All in all this is what you would expect from a DJ of Lisa's magnitude.
CD Two is mixed by a person that might not be as famous outside the hard house scene, but most certainly just as influential as Lashes within the UK club scene. That person of course is Anne Savage. A regular at nights such as Slinky, Storm and the legendary Trade, Anne built her reputation by mixing eardrum shattering hard house with the mellower hard trance. And this CD is no exception. From hard hitting tracks like Ilumina's, Prodigy sampling, Hyperspeed to JFK's Good God and yet another mix of Ewok's Go Back, this CD keeps you on the edge all the way through, despite being less up front than the first.
Overall a superb compilation that will keep you busy throughout the week until the weekend.
Disc 1 sees Lisa giving up some quality, yet fairly grown up hardhouse, whereas my more favoured, Anne Savages mix, gives a bouncy hard trance outing, starting with the evil Groove Controllers LA.
This is good if you like the early tidy sound, but is a little tame in parts, can't fault the mixing though. Oh and the 'Beano' style casing will make you laugh, even if the music doesn't float your boat. BUY IT
