5.0 out of 5 stars ... was looking for just the right book for my great granddaughter who is a year old 31 Jan. 2016
By ANDY M - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I'd heard about the book & was looking for just the right book for my great granddaughter who is a year old. I liked the preview I read. I ordered it & it came sooner than I expected which was good because it was a X-Mas present & worried that it was coming down to the wire. Once I received the book & read it I was a little surprised about the story. It was told so well & although she wouldn't understand yet, the artwork was wonderful & she loved the bright colors & loves to be read to. The subject matter is sad but presented in a way that even I as an adult felt better about it because the author told the story in a way that I know she will see it in a positive way as she gets older. And that's the best part...it is a book she'll enjoy having for many years. I hope the author comes out with another children's book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Story about Love and Acceptance 3 Dec. 2015
By Irene Economou - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
“The Girl with the Magic Balloon” is a delightfully told story about a young girl named Gabriella that loves her family and her dog, Nacho. Nacho has run away, so Gabriella decides to look for him. It is an adventure story that children will easily follow as it unfolds into the world of Cotton Candy Clouds, a magical wonderland, a place with fun-filled encounters including smiling flowers and swirling stars and beautiful butterflies. Her travel is made possible by her magical balloon as she steadfastly looks for Nacho.

Gabriella’s adventure is made memorable by the beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations / watercolors that provide the charming backdrop for Gabriella’s journey. Fernando Cobos has made each of his illustrations come to life with his impeccable attention to details. I found myself spending a lot of time looking at each and every drawing. Each illustration is literally a work of art.

Rick Henry has given us a beautifully written story about love and letting go, a story told so tenderly that children can understand and easily relate to it. It is also a story that adults will also relate to, as loss during one’s lifetime is an inevitable part of life. “The Girl with the Magic Balloon” will help children and adults alike embrace life, accept change, and give hope and meaning to moving on with life with a positive attitude. It is an endearing little book that will bring comfort in addition to leaving both children and adults smiling with its well-told story. This is a book that children and adults will want to read and enjoy again and again!
