The mixes make the most disgusting cakes you can imagine. We decided to ice one anyway. The icing came out in a big puddle and the cake flew out and landed upside down on the kitchen side. It was very funny at the time but the girls were left very disappointed as the cupcake maker was put back into its box, never to be used again.
A truly ridiculous toy.
It's also, technically, NOT a cupcake maker, you put it in the microwave and the actual machine is an icing machine.
So apart from the fact you only get 4 cupcake mixes, they are also noticably smaller than on the adverts.
Secondly, we cooked ours for the 30 seconds it tells you....didn't cook. Cooked it some more, but quickly realised that it wasn't looking any better.
So with a really bad looking cupcake, we thought at least the icing machine would fare better.
No, it didn't. It doesn't come out right, it spins back round with no warning, meaning that the icing goes all over the place instead of a nice swirl.
All in all, a terrible product. I've never written a review before and after having 4 children, i have bought more than my fair share of rubbish toys. But never have i felt compelled to write before buying this.
As the title says...absolute rubbish. Don't buy it
The worst thing is that I bet all of these will end up in landfill somewhere.
If you have not already been duped - DO NOT buy one!!
The original kit contains enough to make just 4 cakes. So after both daughters made a cake each, half the ingredients had been used.
The taste of the actual cakes is revolting.
The "icing" machine spins too quickly, so even when using it gently, it flicks more icing onto us, the machine and table than it does on the actual cake, and how they managed to get "perfect" icing for the p[romotional shots Lord only knows, because ours just looked like a splat!
Ok, the girls had fun, but in my opinion it is highly over priced, with not enough ingredients.
Spent £30 on this for 4 cakes which failed to ice properly and tasted foul.
Do yourself a favour and spend the money on some simple ingredients from your local supermarket..
For £30, we reckon you could go absolutely nuts with decorations of all kinds and produce more than 100 cakes... if you're into plainer cakes with basic icing, you could probably double that for the money.
Please don't waste your money on a product like this.
