Product Description

The original Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut in the West End premiere of Broadway hit AVENUE Q. Julie has already appeared in the London productions of Mamma Mia and Fame and is currently appearing in Sister Act. This album is 12 tracks of the bright new British musical theatre composer, Charles Miller, along New York Lyricist Kevin Hammonds and London lyricist Adam Bard.

Review

This album really gets to show off Julie Atherton's truly astounding vocal ability, providing numerous hairs on the back of your neck style moments and coupling them with some beautiful melodies, creating songs that stick in your head for days - an album which is a joy from start to finish. Julie is wow-ing them nightly in Avenue Q, giving what is almost certainly the West End female performance of the year, and now wowing you in your headphones with her debut album. A beautiful girl, with a voice that soars and shines, completely standing, head-and-shoulders above the many female vocalists out there. The album is a real gem, a little treat for the ears and for the soul. --Chris Cox, BBC Radio 1 & Nowt2do.com

Don't pass me by just because I'm covered in fur, pleads Kate Monster in Avenue Q. And who could pass by this debut CD by Julie Atherton, currently playing both the love-lorn teaching assistant and Lucy the Slut in the puppets and humans show at the Noel Coward Theatre. Subtitled A Girl Of Few Words, Atherton's beguiling voice has a lot to say about the songs of Charles Miller, composer of a number of musicals, including Brenda Bly: Teen Detective. Nowhere near as stagey as you might think, this classy collection puts Atherton right up there with the best in contemporary rock and pop. --Roger Foss, What's On Stage Magazine

I purchased this album a few months ago from Julie's official website, and I must say it is a fantastic purchase, and one of the most listened to albums both in my CD player, and on my IPod! The songs are all fantastically written, and show off Julie's powerful voice fantastically! I was lucky enough to recently get my CD signed by Julie aswell, an even greater bonus!

I'd recommend everyone also takes the time to go and see Julie on the London West End, in the hit production of Avenue Q. She plays the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut perfectly, and it was one of the best shows I have seen.

Stop reading this review, and buy this album now!! You're a fool if you don't!!!

You don't have to be a musical theatre fan to appreciate this album. Julie is an absolute star and this album showcases the best of her ability. She has such a wide vocal range and this album features songs from all genres from new musicals - power ballads, pop etc. through to a soft rock number in the title song 'A Girl of Few Words'. Please support Julie by buying this album, it really is a great investment. And go and see Avenue Q before December whilst Julie's still in it, she really is the star of the show!
