'All I Wanna Do' - (UK #4 commercial, #1 dance) This is the high selling single that marked the transition from teeny bopper pop to adult dance for Dannii.

'Heaven Can Wait' - 70's style pop mixed with trance undertones, this track always puts a smile on my face!!

'So In Love With Yourself' - We go back to solid trance for this track. A quite bitter track which features Kylie Minogue on backing vocals.

'Am I Dreaming' - We stay with dancey pop for this, which is a beautiful song - one of my favourites on the album.

'Everybody Changes Underwater' - I don't know how to describe this unusual track, which has Dannii simply reciting the lyrics for most of it. I have never heard another song quite like this. You should hear this for yourself.

'Everything I Wanted' - (#15 c #1 d) This single was very different for Dannii, it's not dance, it's not very 'pop', but cit's an experiment that worked for Dannii. I love it.

'If It Moves - Dub It' - A dub of MOVIN' UP, this is the weakest track on the album, yet it is still listenable, despite the overly repeated lyrics. Another more experimental piece for Dannii.

'Disremembrance' - (#21 c #1 d) This is another standout track. The dance music coupled with the ballad lyrics is great, one of my favourite Dannii singles.

'It's Amazing' - More traditional balled melodies (almost orchestral) music is coupled with ballad vocals, which a trance undertone. Dannii's vocals are fantastic.

'Movin' Up' - More of a clubbing track, this is `heavier' then her usual work. A great bridge between albums GIRL and NEON NIGHTS. This is the extended mix, different to the original GIRL album.

This Album is Truely amazing, it marked Dannii Minogue's awaited return to Music in the summer of 1997, with her 3rd album release "Girl". The Queen of the Clubs took her first steps of reinventing herself from Poptart into Dance Diva! Now Back with a Fresh Edgy sound & sporting a sexed up blonde bombshell look....The 1st Single taken from "Girl" was the amazing "All I Wanna Do" an Uplifting Dance track which was written by Brian Higgins, S. McLennan, Tim Powell and Matt Gray, The song was an instant hit on both the Commercial chart & The Upfront Club Chart, where it reached Number 1. "All I Wanna do" today is still considered as one of Ms Minogue's Finest Dance Musical moments.

The 2nd release from "Girl" was "Everything I Wanted" Which Sealed Dannii with her 2nd Number 1 on The Club Chart, and a further Number One with the 3rd single release "Disrememberance". The 4th & Final Release from "Girl" was the Australia only single "Cocunut" A cover originally recorded by Harry Nilsson.

"Girl" was a turning point for Dannii, It was such a huge departure from her previous 2 albums, both in sound and style. "Girl" is an over looked gem of the Late 1990's it was an experimental Record incorporating lots of different sounds like Drum N Bass, Pop, Techno, House.... Other songs that stand out " It's Amazin" "Am I Dreaming?" "So In Love With Yourself" (With Big Sister Kylie) And the dreamily delicious "Everybody Changes Underwater"

***There is a planned Deluxe Re-issue release for the album reported in Aug of 2007, It is a Re-issue release that comes as a 2 CD set, Featuring loads of Bonus material, the original album, remixes & Rare unreleased recordings.***

1997/1998 was a fantastic year for pop music. With Madonna's 'Ray Of Light' and Kylie's 'Impossible Princess' we had two artists releasing career defining material that many argue contains some of their strongest material ever. Add to that list Dannii's 'Girl' album - while it may have gone unnoticed by the general public - only reaching 57 in the UK charts - it is without a doubt an incredibly strong album that marked Dannii's transition from bubblegum early 90s pop to full fledged dance anthems.

First track and lead single 'All I Wanna Do' is typical of this album's haunting, epic feel. The lyrics of 'You may not see the innocent girl you keep inside your dreams' is darkly intoxicating and added to the striking videos that accompany the singles portray Dannii as a serious, mature recording artist - if only all those people who knock Dannii on the TV and radio would listen to Girl then i think their opinion would very quickly change.

All I Wanna Do packs a relentless beat and backed up by twirling synths this is perfect music for late nights, Dannii's vocals are simply stunning, showcased brilliantly throughout this album.

Personally, i'm not the biggest fan of next track 'Heaven Can Wait' but you can't deny its sunny, tropical pop appeal. Next we have 'So In Love With Yourself', probably the strongest non-single track on the album - starting all ambient and dreamy it kicks off into a lightning quick Darude-Sandstorm-esque floorfiller, Dannii's vocal deliciously aloof and full of a sensual confidence that fits her image so well.

'Am I Dreaming' is a lovely song too, the production speaking for itself in its complex multilayers - its hypnotic, impossible to tear yourself away from.
