I was also disappointed in that the ending is obvious, not only from the "book jacket" but also from the first couple of pages. In other words little in the way of a surprise and not a lot to get excited about.
Gisselle, in her late 30's, is divorced from her husband after he cheated on her. She decides to throw herself back into the world of dating, but she doesn't want a committed relationship - she just wants sex! She wants to use men the way she feels they treat and use women. However, one bad date turns into another and after the last one, she decides she's had it with men! Much to the humour of her friends, Gisselle announces herself as a lesbian and now only wants to date women. Her friends try to tell her that being gay isn't something that you choose to be - you either are gay or you're not, but Gisselle doesn't listen. She knows best, of course. In her frenzied tangle of confusion, she ends up meeting the one person she wants nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with. However, the basis of their initial friendship is built on a lie, so is this a relationship that can work or has Gisselle's life decisions backfired on her?
This is by far one of the most entertaining books I have read in a while. Throughout the book, there are so many hilarious things that happen. I don't think I've ever laughed so much! Girl Crush's Gisselle reminds me of a mash-up between Bridget Jones and Miranda Hart - once you read it you'll know what I mean. This character is fantastic! I loved this book so much! It is well written and captivating. It is certainly now one of my favourites and that's why I'm giving it a 5 star rating.
In this book we meet Giselle who has such a bad run with dating men that she decides to switch teams and start dating women.
This leads to numerous disastrous female dates that she becomes friendly with.
She also becomes friendly with her first dates twin brother Collier who becomes her shoulder to cry on.
The friendships between the girls is pure friendship goals.
Some laugh out loud moments were had reading this story.
I also loved the fact that Ronnie is a character from a different book but Leddy. I thought it worked incredibly well.
I loved every single second.
