When a run-in with private security leaves her beloved Rust dead, Metro’s expressions darken and vengeance becomes her life’s work. The intensity of The Girl and the Bomb is driven by its split perspectives—we experience events through Metro and also through the security guard on duty that fateful night, revealing the horrible cycle of violence for all those involved. As Metro taunts the security guard, we see the effect she has on his small family, and we really don’t know who to root for as things spiral out of control.
I won’t spoil the ending for you, but I will tell you that Metro’s talent as an artist is her superpower, and her masterpiece left an indelible mark on me.
