We were looking for a tracker to keep track of our two young cats as they explored the outside world for the first time. Having spent quite a lot of time looking, we opted for this tracker, and have so far had slightly mixed results.
Long and short - we're really happy with the tracking, when it works. One of our cats, 'A', has become an expert at removing their collar, and we were able to prove the location-finding by locating the slipped collar on a number of occasions. We've not yet had to use it in anger to locate a cat.
However, since then we've also lost one tracking unit completely - seemingly because it ran out of battery early. We had another instance of 'A' coming back in without their collar, but this time the tracker couldn't locate it. When we tried to locate 'B's tracker, that also failed, despite them being right in front of us, and was indeed out of battery.
Fortunately we weren't trying to locate a lost cat, just the collar, and anticipating we might have some issues, I'd already bought the 3-tag kit so we had a spare - but definitely have slightly less peace of mind now. Like some other reviewers on here, we'll now be charging at least weekly, if not more frequently, to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Pros:
- Can detect through walls, etc, unlike GPS.
- No subscription fee etc.
- Super lightweight, especially when compared with GPS trackers.
- Doesn't rely on local wifi networks unlike some other subscription-less trackers.
- When it's working, it really pinpoints the location
Cons:
- Battery life not necessarily the stated 30 days.
- The instructions for use could be clearer.
