Product Description

Review

A remarkable feat, a moving story of conquest by the unquenchable human spirit, a determined old man's gesture of defiance at the modern world. Such was the voyage; his book is a fine account of it with nothing left out (Alan Villiers Saturday Review)

Book Description

The classic account of how Sir Francis Chichester singlehandedly circumnavigated the globe in 1966

A fantastic book by the master mariner of the sixties. Yes Francis Chichester was a hero of mine back in the day.

He is one of the greats in sailing. Never bragging, always reasoned and positive. This is old school sailing as I remember it, just rdf, charts, and a sextant. Brave guy and an inspiration.

great read written by one of the country's great adventurers - surprising how many times he said he felt seasick!

A facinating book , especially if you've read accounts of more recent circumnavigations. An account of how a New Elizabethan can uss a stiff upper lip (and massive competence) to achive anything.
