This Activation Gel has several roles to play in the hair removal process.
First, the gel will cool down the skin and make the hair removal painless.
Second, it will be a way to see where the hair has been 'zapped' and will allow you to see where to place the machine
Finally, one of its role is supposedly to redirect the light to the root of the hair in order for the laser to be more intense. Basically, from what I understand, the gel 'traps' the light so that most of its power is directed directly to the root of the hair and not on the sides.
In order for this gel to fulfil these three roles, it should not be applied and blended but should remain thick. The thicker it is, the more the process will be effective - it seems.
Do keep in mind that this means it is an extra investment as you will need to consider buying the gel a few times. What I do, at the moment on the legs, is to reapply the gel. When one area has been zapped, I scrape the gel from the area and move it across my leg, this leads to less gel. But, I have no idea if this ruins the process or if it changes its effectiveness.
