Product Description

The outrageous Gilbert Gottfried breaks down the walls of good taste in this hilarious, jaw-dropping DVD, recorded live in New York City. He gleefully bats aside political correctness and fires an onslaught of jokes guaranteed to offend, building to a grand finale of filth known as the Dirtiest Joke of All Time (also featured in the film The Aristocrats). The laughs continue in some of DVD's funniest bonus features ever, filled with wild stories, indignant ranting and unique celebrity impressions.

The kind of society we all live in these days makes it almost inevitable that we will encounter the need for excessive political correctness over a myriad of issues. This in turn is born out of dumbing down of society by the people in power who love to adopt a twin attitudes of "holier than thou" coupled with the very dangerous "You dont know what to do so I will have to tell you". It is rather unfortunate when humans forsake their basic intellect and decide it is safer to go with the flow. It becomes all the more chaotic when a choice is made to transfer responsibilities onto a central authority who thinks he is making decisions based on popular perceptions of the majority.

The above mini-rant provides an almost perfect excuse to sit back and have a good ol' guffaw @ jokes, which society would rather we not even think of just in case in manages to offend some poor soul. I say, to hell with political correctness that only makes one laugh and causes pain to none. We are mostly mature capable adults with a decent knowledge of when to call it quits when the boundaries of good taste have been breached but in a public setting. In the rivate confines of one's home, Gilbert Gottfried's jokes & rants are ust what the doctor ordered to restore some semblance of normalcy in this needlessly high strung world of ours. Listening to Gilbert rant & rave and crack a series of "eewww" jokes made me fondly reminesce of my school days when such banter was commonplace and made the skulduggery of education a bit more bearable. Unfortunately, looking at society around us today, it often seems we never really left school!

I would strongly suggest this DVD to people who arent easily offended.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Gottfried is on top form in this routine (which i'd previously seen parts of on the web)

In his typical style he rolls off joke after joke at fast pace.
Some of them i'd heard before in other Gottfried shows but some of them were just insane.
If you haven't seen this show before I cannot recommend it enough, I just wish I could quote even one of them jokes here (but their far too filthy)

I generally don't laugh hard watching comedians doing stand up, but trust me, you will watching this!!

There are some problems though, Gottfried breaks his jokes up more and more as the show progresses doing imitations, which at first are funny but gradually get a bit tiring. If you haven't heard Gottfried's take on the Aristocrats joke before your in for a real treat, but those of us who have, it remains virtually the same as his previous ones.

This show is from almost 5 years ago and the (many) extras are kinda amusing, all done by Gottfried himself in his living room presumedly, although at times they get a bit dull. The picture quality isn't great either, but then again, that's not the most important thing in this case. Personally I feel Gottfried is at his best when he's under some sort of control, like during the large part of his standup where he's reeling off joke and joke, or when he's being interviewed. But when he's given free reign to do what he wants for 10 mins in an extra it does get a bit grating.

Anyway, i'm personally a huge fan of him, and this particular show and if you haven't seen it before it's definitely worth seeing, I can see myself rewatching it at some point due to the sheer number of jokes within.

Enjoy!

If you are familiar with Gilbert Gottfried, then you probably know pretty much exactly what you are getting with 'Dirty Jokes'... The main feature being a recording of his standup routing taken from a small NY club, plus some extras of him at home, plus some extra clips of him at home telling small stories and odd jokes.

To someone not familiar with him, he takes a bit of getting used to. At the moment I tend to be seeing a lot more observational style comedy on tv, which this is most definitely not - Gilbert Gottfried goes back a wee bit in style to what is essentially someone standing on stage telling jokes one after another, of which the title will give you a clue on what most of the subject matter is... If you are expecting highbrow and subtle humour then this is most certainly the wrong place to look - the jokes are simple, crude and fairly formulaic (he himself makes a crack at how many start 'a man walks into a doctors'...) many you will probably have heard before, but personally at least a few new ones, and some rather good ones throughout if you appreciate the sense of humour.

Speaking technically of the dvd, you don't really get anything special, but at the same time it is hard to do much with one short guy with a nasal voice standing on stage hunched over a mic stand. So the feature itself is fairly static, Gilbert shot from a couple of different angles against a red curtain backdrop on a small stage, with odd shots of the crowd laughing for atmosphere every so often.

I would say the dvd is a mixed bag, it is nothing outstanding, but at the same time gives you pretty much exactly what is expected of Gilbert Gottfried - a standup routine based on lots of dirty jokes and not really much else.
