Compared to the hi end Wi-Fi dongle I had in a USB 3.0 slot I get great gains from the PCIe card in Wi-Fi download speed, the Ping is lower and the upload speed has improved too using the supplied antenna. The online speed tests show flat continuous lines rather than random up and down spikes, showing my connection was erratic using the Wi-Fi dongle. I can now enjoy online gaming much more thanks to fast Ping time and constant Wi-Fi speed.
The Bluetooth connection is now more stable too using the PCIe card and connects to my devices easily and is not at all troublesome as using a USB Bluetooth dongle. I can only highly recommend this Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Gigabyte PCIe expansion card as it exceeded all my expectations and can't fault it, plus I have a couple of USB slots back not needing the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongles!
As many have said this card is a laptop module on a PCI-e card, it sounds a bit dodgy but it works really well. I bought it to replace an old card that never really had W10 support and certainly didn't have Bluetooth, however the old card maxed out by BT internet connection so i wasn't expecting any further improvements in speed with this card.
As expected my internet connection remained the same (75/19 on either band) simply because it couldn't go any faster anyway, the link speed when connected to 5GHz flickers between 866.7Mbps and 780Mbps and on 2.4GHz the link speed is 144.4Mbps. I have never seen anything like 1733Mbps but this is because the BT Smart Hub doesn't support 160MHz channels on 5GHz. My router is in the room next to where the PC is located so all this is though a brick wall.
Bluetooth 5 is included providing you have a free motherboard header to connect to (cable included) and this works great, much better than the USB adapter i was using, this card provides better range and a much more robust signal.
The included magnetic aerial means the signal is no longer fighting its way though the case of your PC and the cable is long enough to sit on top of just about all PC cases I'd imagine.
Although this card is plug and play i would strongly recommend you download the latest AC9260 drivers from Intel, i found my internet connection a lot smoother after installing the latest versions, speed tests were jumping around quite a lot but all this stopped once the intel drivers were in place.
Really nice, works right off really well for my rig buying two more for other machines. The blue tooth and wifi were easy installs bit slow but worked first time, delivery was also a bit slow but the main thing for me is it works well and installed easily.
Some tips; the blue tooth needs a wire (supplied) it is a usb power lead ( rectangle block with 9 holes in two rows, four on top, five in the bottom obviously) so you need to check your mother board has the male fitting for this, (5+4 prongs) it most likely will have and if not I believe its only needed for the Blue tooth.
Performance is great, I did speedtest and it was exactly what I got from other wifi and cabled pcs.
I like that it runs a stable WiFi connection as long as you have a good signal from your Hub/Router. You can't blame the adapters if your router is hidden behind your TV or behind a thick brick wall.
Bluetooth is also handy for those who need it. Just a shame it needs a spare USB port on the motherboard which isn't always the case on small mATX boards.
This could easily be 5 stars. Why only 4?
Well:
1) For such a small card, Gigabyte missed a trick by not making the card suitable for use in low profile cases. Duh! No brainer. Sort it out Gigabyte PLEEEEEASE.
2) It would be brilliant if they could figure out how to make everything work through the PCIe slot alone without needing the USB cable as not all boards have a spare header. Or if it must use a USB header, then a passthrough header on the card would be brill for motherboards that only have one header and it's in use for the front USB ports.
Other than that, if you need to add/replace the dodgy WiFi in your PC and the card will fit your case, go for it. You won't regret it.
So brought this wifi card as my old one was old and lacking in picking up a decent wifi signal (I live in a "standard" bricked terraced house, in a big city, etc) My Virgin Router is in the kitchen and PC is in my room (also I'm not able to run an ethernet wire between the two) so brought this one, even after looking at the slighty cheaper products on Amazon.
Well from a 2.5 - 8mb/s speed on my old wifi card to a 50 - 90mb/s with this one (again this is what I got) all I can say is I am very happy with this product. Though I feel the price could come down just a little bit.
I had no issues with setting up the the wireless card. just put it in my spare PCIe slot, attached the usb header (provided) from on the wireless card to a spare header on my mobo for the bluetooth, attached the antenna wires to the card and mounted the magnetic base ontop of my PC. installed the drivers on the disc, and I was set.
FYI I am on Windows 10, had no issues with any of the WIFI or BT drivers
Only took a few minutes in total
