I seem to go through gaming mice at about one a year (or sooner!) and have had several brands. For most of the last 10 years I have stuck with various models of Razor mice, usually DeathAdders, which I really like, but I keep wearing out the switches - and they are not cheap. I have also had a couple of Corsair mice too.
My last mouse was a Mad Catz R.A.T. that only managed to last 3 months before one of the side buttons stopped working - that is currently being RMAd.
In the meantime I decided to buy something cheap to tide me over and stumbled across this - and it is great!
It comes in a beautifully presented heavy plastic box that you could use to take it on events etc. - It also makes it look like a totally premium product.
In use it is fast and slick. I use a Gigabyte mouse pad, and with this there is hardly any friction all. The switches are very positive in their action, giving a very tactile click each time to press them.
The only slight down side is that the software is a bit dated. Although it allows each individual button to be assigned a key value, it doesn't let you record macros, and doesn't let you save individual profiles.
A superb bit of gaming kit at a bargain price!
#1 Design - I really like the design, it's hot a large bottom making it very stable and easy to slide without accidentally lifting it up, this is also helped by it's weight, it's slightly heavier than most mice allowing to to be a lot more stable, the grip is completely fine and the size is great for average sized hands. The additionally 2 buttons on the side are place in an alright way, the one on the front is easy to press as it's positioned exactly above your thumb, allowing for quick clicking, though the one slightly further back is a little harder to press and isn't as easily used. The scroll wheel has a slightly annoying feature of clicking twice depending on how hard you press it, though that's a very small nitpick.
#2 Lifespan - Almost every feature of the mouse survives usage, the only part that becomes a problem down the line is the scroll wheel, eventually (after over 6+ months of usage) it'll start to become harder to move, to the point where it's not realistic to scroll anymore and can cause discomfort to use, the clicking feature for the scroll wheel still functions entirely. I've never had any other part of the mouse break outside of the scroll wheel, so everything else is very good in terms of lifespan.
#3 Software & Others - This functions completely fine with both Windows 7 & Windows 10, I've not tried it on other operating systems but I'm sure the software side of things is totally fine coming from a company such a Gigabyte. The wire is nice and long, and the sensitivity options have a nice variant offering advantages across different gaming platforms (you could turn down the sensitivity in the middle of a game to better suit an activity).
Overall verdict: 9/10 It's a really good mouse, the price is very fair and it does exactly what I need it to do, no useless features or functionality and has well rounded specs. If nothing else I recommend giving this mouse a try, as even for everyday non gaming use it feels much better than those smaller dell mice that a gust of wind could move. If not for the scroll wheel lifespan then it'd be a 10/10.
It worked flawlessly for 26 months when moving it up or down the pointer moved in the opposite direction, but software was downloaded which rectified that problem but left the dpi settings a lot slower. A visit to Gigabyte's website, and more software, has rectified that problem.
The upper dpi setting on mine is either 2000 or 2100 dpi, can't remember which is fine for me as I am not a serious gamer. I dislike the tilt functions and don't use them, but that is me not the mouse. The back and forward buttons are useful when surfing the net making it a good all-round mouse.
Yes this review is for an older version but it appears that the mouse has been enhanced. When mine kicks the bucket I will have this high on the list of replacements.
Update. Just looked at the Gigabyte Force control panel I can now adjust each dpi setting up to 3200 at 400 intervals and change what each button does from a choice of 15 settings.
