About the Author

Holly Black spent her early years in a decaying Victorian mansion where her mother fed her a steady diet of ghost stories and faerie tales. An avid collector of rare folklore volumes, spooky dolls, and crazy hats, she lives in West Long Branch, New Jersey, with her husband, Theo. Together with illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi, she is the creator of the bestselling Spiderwick Chronicles series of children's books.

Tony DiTerlizzi is co-creator of the international bestselling series, The Spiderwick Chronicles. He has illustrated numerous picture books for children, including Ted, G is for 1 Gzonk and the critically acclaimed The Spider and the Fly, which won the Caldecott Honor. Tony lives in Amherst, Massachusetts with his wife, Angela, and their baby daughter, Sophia.

This book was bought as a present for my friend's daughter. She loves the Spiderwick Chronicles and now has the complete collection up to yet! They are well worth the money and are a fantastic read for children with magical imaginations!

Format: Hardcover
Just when I thought this series could not get any better, man does it ever. The Vargas kids are back in a mess with fantastical creatures. The Giants, as predicted, are indeed waking up and as they fight for territory they are leaving a swath of destruction behind them. Jarod and Laurie are not on their own this time; Laurie tricked their older brother into carrying around a 4 leaf clover, and now he can see the creatures also. But they don't believe the adults will believe them, and they need to find a solution to the Giant Problem or all of Florida will burn.

I have now read 10 books that are part of the Spiderwick universe by Black and DiTerlizzi and think they are great. I cannot wait for my children to be older so I can share these adventures with them. And I approach the last book with some trepidation.

A Kid's Review on 7 Aug. 2009
Format: Hardcover
Really one for people that have read the first series of the Spiderwick Chronicles. However I read the book in a couple of days (much to my parents annoyance!).

Very exciting read with good characters and the plot gets better with each book, for those that have read Nixies Song this has a twist on what happened before.

Would recommend to all fans.
